ADELE
Another misleading headline which caused outrage and counter outrage on FB, apparently it is regarding children bringing Birthday cakes to school as it has become a common practice. With the allergy concern it makes sense , really it isn’t a teachers job to be cutting up or dispensing cake of unknown origin or ingredients and if anyone did unfortunately suffer as a consequence it could prove tricky with the blame culture that exists today. It has nothing to do with lunch boxes etc. Rob did explain that he had commented without reading the content of the article in full. Hmmmn seriously 🤨

2112
It’s October and very near the start of the HOK and Tynpotwald actually doing any work for the new year. I see the Peoples Prince has been on the NPM (MR) giving his expert views on the new planning applications on Lake Road, MiddleMarch, Port Erin etc. He is saying that he hopes that he hopes government planning process doesn’t scupper development. He says that red tape puts off investors. This coming from a ex member of the Starship Enterprise. He waffles on about ‘national interest’. All of a sudden he is sounding like a CM Cannan tribute act. Whilst in part I agree with the need and desire to redevelop the sites affected, but at what cost? Do we let the architects and developers have carte blanche and laissez faire attitude from IOMG to do what they want? If we as taxpayers are funding these developments, least in part through grants, in order to make these developments financially viable, and clear derelict sites, do we not have any say, or is the Peoples Prince arguing there is too much red tape? Whilst these sites are being developed and there will be lots of new apartments being built, how many will be set out as affordable as part of the planning conditions? The Peoples Prince says that red tape has put off investors from building, and he uses his experience from being an ex member of the Starship Enterprise. Were these ‘investors’ thinking they could do what they want, with government approval? If there were plans submitted to develop something in Onchan, how would he react? With gusto and enthusiasm, or would he at the first sign of objection, think of the votes and his future? To be fair it’s brownfield sites he’s referring to so the 3 mentioned plus I assume Newsons & recently the big site up Victoria road which ShopRite Truro scupper with a pathetic objection

He was the member in charged when the DfE made the changes in hospitality and pushed to relax work permits in construction. That was the catalyst that started the full scrapping of work permits, Did Mr Callister say anything about his time in DfE and his part in the relaxation of work permits. 2112
I see Rob Callister (according to the NPM (MR)), has been tabling motions for the next Tynpotwald session, asking for a Children’s Commissioner, instead of a Champion. Is he doing this genuinely, or out of pique? No doubt he would if offered the role would jump at the opportunity. The island has many pressing and serious issues to deal with, and whilst children and young people aren’t less important, sadly some of our politicos are jumping on hobby horses. Dirty Buggane
They should stick there hobby horse up there collective asses and concentrate on solving the problems this and previous administrations have caused. A smaller (much) and transparent government would be a good place to start.
Omobono
So many failed wanabee politicians with axes to grind desperately looking to find an issue that might get them re elected especially when they could not deliver when given a role in the government of the Isle of Man ,
