Banker
The only reason Watterson & Skelly are getting involved is because they think there’s votes in it for election year. The Commissioners will now be stuck with an expensive eyesore which will just be left to rot

They're up for election in April anyway - so I think it's bad practice that they're making commitments that could be left till after the elections. Maybe for once decisions should be made in the interests of them, rather than the building industry. As it happens it's possible that neither Watterson (who wants to be President) nor Skelly (who may be retiring) will be standing - and Skelly might not get back in if he does. Watterson wants President but don’t you have to be elected first? Heard mention Howie might want role as well

More seriously I don't think it could as it would be owned by the food burgers of Port Erin

Major Rushen
There are more than enough ‘ empty sites’. Make it safe, weather proof and rent it out as a pop up cafe until a replacement is signed and sealed.
Non-Believer
If the building is truly Donald Ducked, demolish it and rebuild sympathetically in keeping but change a few things to modernise and adhere to any relevant regs? That would help retain some of the character. Rather than what is proposed. How much trade is there in PE 365 to support the wholesale change that is proposed?
