slinkydevil
Whether you're for or against, it is never going to happen. I doubt it would get much further than planning. The whole movement if a waste of time, and voting for people on that single principle is daft, especially if you end up with someone like Singer. 3

Well if you look at the last five years dafter things have happened (starting with Quayle becoming CM). Look how the 'free' Liverpool landing stage suddenly started costing and costing and costing. Influential HNWIs (or those who are seen as such) tend to have a way of getting their own way. So I suppose it's very much about firing a shot across the bows and getting the existing MHKs to oppose. Presumably Singer still has some support in the town, though he came a good way behind Hooper last time, but there's now no guarantee that he would scoop up all the voters on a single topic with so many others suddenly standing. But the very unpredictability (and the fuss over Josem) could still harm Hooper though it's not clear to whose advantage.

Well you say that but if I had lived across, although not a natural Tory,I would have voted for them on the single issue of getting Brexit done. And lots did even though they knew they would end up with Johnson 1
Non-Believer
Anybody who votes for a candidate supporting the marina proposals under the current financing proposals seriously needs counselling. There is no substance whatsoever behind this other than a short term grab and run operation with the taxpayers being left to pick up the pieces and clear the mess.

Ramsey South promenade has to be the worst promenade I've ever seen. It's fucking horrible, zero soul, falling apart and a complete distraction from what it could be. 3

A populist issue like this could result in Ramsey returning two wholly unsuitable candidates to the House. the future isn’t bright at all.

It may be way down the list of the Island’s worries but it’s pretty high on the list of the people of Ramsey’s worries. Populist issue or not. Being against this particular development doesn’t mean any potential Ramsey MHK will be rubbish on other issues or automatically be an unsuitable candidate. It’s typical of the general population’s inability to see beyond the three square metres around them. There are 80’000 residents. Most provincial UK towns have more than that. theres a real need to look beyond the parish boundaries and elect the right people to drive transformation for the next 5 years and beyond 2

Should the residents there keep quiet and suck it up for the sake of the bigger picture?

The island is really on a downward spiral. The local politician's now have social media to make sure they never do anything that is the slightest controversial, even if it is for the islands betterment. They used to be able to do things with little attention, now every move is questioned. Look at the bloody trees in Onchan for example. It really does not end well.........
