lectro
Better still get Sir John Harvey-Jones to use his management expertise to sort this place out - it could be filmed as one of those "Trouble at the Top" type programs and sold. A win-win situation as they say...

Bieryes
I have seen some of the replies and they are very good and interesting . Oh dear thogh they make me look a bit of the bumpkin from the country with a piece of straw in the mouth and a funny hat like a policeman made of cloth. I will have to learn this vat and tax and I will learn other ways we can make a lot of money for the ‘missing millions’ at the hospital and power station and other such places. Except even though I have much to learn they are not really missing are they. I know that much. The pounds has been converted to big car and girl and lunches. I know that much where it goes. And also convert to some holidy in the sun ‘away from it all’. I’ll bet. But still nice to take it back from the opportunity sneaks really I would think. I have personally seen and been very much worse situation. We also saw fancy car and swimming pool in the big houses of the fat people with cigar as we and little baby (big baby now!) were very hungry and cold. We will not be in the dump and will keep smilng through all this when it will happens. Hope to you all too. A smilie!!! Bieryes
Alias
Nationalize Douglas Gas, telecom and others <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wouldn't that cost money? Besides, they're less likely to make a cock up than the gov. IMO
Loki
A North to South motor race, in the form of a time trial, on closed roads. The difference would be that the event would be open to the public and only normal cars are allowed to be used. No powered up cars or extra's or perhaps just one type of car per engine size that everyone could use like in top gear. I reckon you could have an trial fee of say £100 to £150. Some of this money would go towards insurance. The trial would be from Ramsey over the mountain, down Governers, QB, main road to Castletown and then Finish in Port Erin. You could get all the top car manufacturers over to sponser the event and give prizes, the media would be interested, definately Top Gear and the likes and perhaps Sky. Anyone over the age of 21 could enter as long as they had 5 years driving experience. Races would go on engine size for Catergories and you could have as many goes as you could afford. I think thousands of people from all over Europe would want to come and participate. The Governmnet could force the prices to be frozen and set at reasonable rates on the sea cat, they will be doing more trips with more cars and will still make money. The tourists alone could end up spending millions. Well you did ask for ideas and didn't say it had to be realistic, though I think this could be spectacular

FCMR
It cost the DOT more to dump Traficator batteries than the cost to buy them, tipping costs £6k per ton. Why cant they buy and use the solar powered ones that are even cheaper to buy
