According to the DOI in this article

http://www.iomtoday.co.im/article.cfm?id=52764&headline=Douglas Promenade: Concrete tramway was most cost effective says Department of Infrastructure&sectionIs=NEWS&searchyear=2019

"differentiating the tram corridor from the asphalt roadway was a ’necessary health and safety requirement’ that ensures that pedestrians are aware of the change in their environment."

So it begs the question, if the red concrete is to do that, what is the change in environment in the middle of Loch prom as it is not for tram tracks?.

Well, the disabled seem to be well-served with parking spaces if nothing else?

HaHa. The white van brigade will ignore those disability signs just like they do with the pointless double yellow lines all over Douglas. Shoukd get about 6 on there as there is the pavement to park on as well which will be a bonus

I love these artists impressions.

OK, hardly the same thing but you get the idea, here's an actual picture of the M25 opening,

And I think the M6:

love the old vehicles, Morris Minor, Austin A30?, Jaguar mk. 7?, J4 van  and I think a Leyland truck. Not a foreign vehicle in sight.

That reminds me of the old 'working class, middle class, upper class' sketch by Ronnie Corbett, Ronnie barker and John Cleese. Moggy 1000 in the working class slow lane, Austin A40 (I think 40 not 30 Doc) in the middle class fast lane and the Mk 7 Jag in the upper class overtaking lane. Wonderful!

I wasn't sure about the Austin, I decided on a 30 cos of the width and rear waistline but am willing to concede cos I'm not sure.

You're right about the class structure though, it really does reflect that sketch.

Another mystery, at least to me. Why would you have the bit of pavement on the walkway lowered like this?

Is that where the motorbility scooters can get on the bus?
