I don't think so. The Promenade is a first class Governmental embarrassment with those responsible blagging in top gear and trying to bullshit their way through it and the taxpayers copping for the lot.

The whole prom project has been a complete disaster from day one. It’s clear they didn’t have anything more than rudimentary plans either the ways it’s constantly changed from week to week. There should be a full audit of the extra costs that have been incurred. Everything they touch is an unmitigated disaster. Glencrutchery Road now being a prime example of the DOIs reverse Midas Touch in that everything they touch inevitably turns to shit.

More to the point, the Prom scheme must have been a kernel idea of the DoI, or the Carriage Refurbishnment Dept., as it must have been back then!

It was our illustrious Parliamentary representatives who gave it the final approval. Did they know what they were agreeing to? Was that all the egos in DoI needed to let leash the dogs of war, the project that they had been waiting for to get their collective teeth into? Something better than a new  set of traffic lights?

Once it was started, there was not any way to gracefully back out and don't forget, many Manx residents and here on MF supported the scheme because the Prom was just so dreadful that it was presenting visitors with such poor introduction on the 'Gateway' to the Island and yet a last min . com 40k quid resurface proved to be quite an improvement!!!

So who is to blame, the MHKs, DoI or 'us'.???

Well let’s look at the evidence. Ray Harmer the Minister has just moved on, Jason Moorhouse a Department member has now left. His replacement is an MLC who does not need public vote to stay in role. Nobody fighting an election in less than 12 months wants any connection with the DOI and it’s embarrassing plans. The department is clearly out of control and has been for years. But it’s sad that people prefer to secretly jump ship to attempt to save their political careers rather than actually deal with the assholes in there who are out of control.

None of those people were in place at the time of the origin of the scheme.

Does the Islands electorate really remember that far back to affect their voting? ( Phil Gawnes loss not withstanding, of course! ).

Can you fit a bus and 52 passengers in it? Plummeting to meet their makers?
