So please explain for the doubters like me, how 13 or14 MHKs from one party, who are told how to vote by one party leader, be better for the prom works, for instance, than the same amount of independent MHKs voting individually ?

It’s about the ability to get things done with a majority and the joint accountability to the mandate it came from. Including holding senior civil servants to account.
Without this the Independents just don’t have the confidence or motivation to get to grips with the issues. Self preservation is paramount so they just join the status quo and perpetuate the problem until it’s the next one’s turn. These issues have been there for years. The Prom is just the worst and most visible example of it.

MR reporting that the infrastructure minister has confirmed MER trams will be able to run on the new horsetram tracks.

Presumably they'll do that when they need to crack all of the concrete prior to inevitably replacing it with tarmac (as they were originally advised to  but rejected on basis of cost, allegedly)

Yes it will be great for all those tourists who stay in Ramsey (!) Roll off the boat as a foot passenger with all your bags for your 2 week stay then just walk to the end of the prom from the Sea Terminal and hey presto 2 hours later you’re in Ramsey. With a bad dose of piles from all the jolting from the solid wood seat of an MER tram. Utopia!

How will they be powered? Presumably overhead infrastructure will have to be installed to enable that?

To be fair, if they insist on keeping the horse trams, it is sensible to plan for future upgrades to the transport infrastructure. Birch Hill to Farmhill - all aboard

The future upgrade required is to scrap them.

Ah, this will answer the question why there are two tracks.

Also why the gap between the sets of tracks is bigger . Electric trams are a bigger unit i'd say . All coming out in the wash now !!!! Clearly the plan all along just not honest enough to admit it . Hence the rails !!

A good idea IMO.
