Non-Believer
As Bill Shimmins MHK, a keen cyclist himself, advises cyclists not to use the Glencrutchery Rd cycle lane, branding it "dangerous and intimidating" (MR online) You couldn't make it up.

Tram systen does exist just a extra route. heavier rails put in means its totally feasible to extend the route . Good idea for once

Good idea for once Well I was more referring to the speculated Birch Hill - Farmhill Light Rail project that is utter utter pie in the sky bollocks.
Non-Believer
Was this what our politicians voted for and approved? Are the vehicle carriageways wide enough to accommodate vehicles and the trams on their right hand sides? Aye.... but here's the thing....... the old Summerland site will be turned into a park & ride (car park) for those commuting into Douglas. I have posted this before but according to the DOI ( who are never wrong )there will more space in some cases and never less. Not sure about what width they have taken for a vehicle though, no doubt a matchbox toy car. http://www.iomtoday.co.im/article.cfm?id=48953&headline=More space for trams and traffic insists DoI§ionIs=NEWS&searchyear=2019 The two tram tracks are about a foot further apart which if it was necessary, which it is not, could have been easily accommodated by reducing the large pavement width by 6" on each side. Park and ride on the Isle of Man should mean leaving your car at home and getting the bus. You could well be right though, nothing is ever going to built there so a massive car park will do. It's actually a huge site but with the potential issue of an unstable cliff face costing long millions to secure the only people paying for that will be the taxpayer (where's there's a bottomless pit always available. All coming out in the wash now !!!! Clearly the plan all along just not honest enough to admit it . Hence the rails !! Rails came secondhand from a failed plan in Birkenhead for some riverfront development. I think at the time they got them for a good price. They are far heavier than required for Horse cars or MER trams but if the price was better than buying new then that is good I guess. You can certainly buy modern trams that do not require overhead wires ( Birmingham is getting some). They do look nice and the DOI like an extravagant project https://www.transport-network.co.uk/New-84m-battery-powered-trams-are-a-game-changer/16197 The plan for the tramway extending down to the old courthouse in Ramsey seems to have gone very quiet

Plus ripping up all the expensive Chinese granite that's only been down 5-odd years.
Twitch
Can someone explain to me the business case and need for allowing MER trams to run to the end of the promenade?

The current fleet of MER trams would never be allowed onto the promenade with open roads without significant expensive modifications so no need for a business case.
