Its a handy way to get from the Terminus Tavern to Wine Down (or similar) Although if there's three of you it's cheaper to get a taxi And that's saying something. But as we know it will probably end up being where all the teenage delinquents go drinking cider and shouting at traffic. It’s all going to be sooooo cool and sophisticated. Don't forget the smashing of bottles and distribution of used syringes.
Nellie
Looking at the plans on the MyProm website, they should have finished relaying the tracks, and tarmac, from Strathallan to Switzerland Road, 10 days ago. But it now looks like they'll be lucky to get this bit done by TT Week. https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/myprom.im/phasing-sequence-4-of-5-rev-b_26937095.pdf Meanwhile, the next section which, so far, just has the new concrete foundations on Queens Prom, past the Palace and Castle Mona seems to have been abandoned. This is meant to be completed before the TT, but it looks likely that will this bit will have to be covered in temporary tarmac, to make it useable for the TT period. How long will we have to wait for the DoI to admit that this project is weeks behind schedule, and incurring unplanned costs?
Dave Hedgehog
They dropped all the rails off this afternoon so it looks like getting done to the ruins of the Castle Mona by TT is still the plan.

Well, looking at the current rate of progress, that seems ambitious, but Good Luck to them. So just Loch Prom/Regent Street to worry about, which currently looks like 1980's Beirut! Neil Down
Fingers crossed they don’t run them at all this year. It’ll be the first time they won’t lose as much money Edited April 30, 2019 by Neil Down

Nom de plume
Why these tracks (single track with passing places) are not being laid on the promenade walkway is beyond me. Complete madness.

There would have been plenty of room to accommodate all if designed correctly. Horses running on busy roads (and getting busier by the year) is a worse mix believe me.
ecobob
I’m a bit late to the party here butnwerebt the horse trams supposed to be relocated to the seaward side? Has that idea been shelved now?

In many European big cities everyone manages to share the space pretty well with everyone giving consideration to their surroundings. It’s only seems to be in GB that everyone seems to pour hate on anyone else who wishes to share their space.

If I remember correctly, didn't the Corpy remove the cycling lane because a number of people wanted to walk nearer the railings

The rest remains in the middle of the road.
