If you go down Howard Street and look to your right in the lanes running parallel with the Prom (Churches Bookshop is on the opposite corner) you can see where the old sea wall is. Anything that was built from that point on out towards the sea is built on reclaimed land supported by stratae of bed rock.

These reclaimed areas are the source of the oft commented issue of voids along the prom, from the old Villiers site up to just short of Senna Road area.

Except the old sea wall was land reclamation as well, as was the 1870/80 sea wall line and the 1930 one.

the original sea/land boundary was the cliff face at the back of Market Street. The beach originally ran up to there

But he provided useful factual information about the highways matters he posted about.

He outright refused to accept there was anything wrong with the light timings at the manx arms. Even though there obviously was.

And that's probably where it will end up again, eventually.  The sea level worldwide is predicted to rise by a few metres.  The sea is immensely powerful... and patient.  Time is on its side.

My heart goes out to all the businesses affected (too many of them). But will anyone listen? Cannot help but feel that we're so far down into the hole, that they just have to keep digging, in the hope, as faint as it is, that one day, we'll come out the other side, wherever and whenever that might be. In the meantime, let's all pay our taxes so they never stop all this waste.

A very good friend has businesses down on the Prom and his footfall has been decimated and no end in sight . Heartbreaking to watch seeing a business he's worked so hard and diligently ravaged by incompetence and lack of any foresight and with constant promises about areas finished but nothing forthcoming consistenty . Will he survive !?? He has to really but not sure in my view how he's going too.
