I understand that the thermoplastic paints can be slippy and that coloured tarmac is a safer bet. But why would you use low contrast colours like red and black....... Why not. Black with light grey (off white) or black with yellow.. A quick Google will show the colours available.

Why do DOI have prove they can do everything differently when there are proven safer ways for a fraction of the price .??

Why they couldn’t have kept things simple in the first place, these crossings aren’t broken, but the stupid idiots are being controlled by the ACU, and all because of the TT. Personally I think our idiots like to do things just to be different, then they can boast about how good they are.  By repainting, again it’s costing the taxpayers and will no doubt be a closed road job, lasting days.

Now they should calculate the total cost of this little fuck up and remove a similar sum from the salaries and pension entitlements of those responsible.

It's called "accountability".

Good point, but accountability with our civil servants, managers, directors and political overlords are in very short supply. Its almost as if they have an infinite budget. Anything which relates to the TT seems to be carte blanche to spend, spend and spend.

They have just posted that Braddan school will still be one way when school opens next week.

Two brave posts for a friday afternoon.  The social media boy had better be on overtime for when the pubs open and people finish work.

So they can’t even get this right and do a project on time. Speaks volumes. Foresee absolute chaos early next week, parents, vehicles and pupils, coupled with an overstretched arterial route into Douglas, North Douglas and Onchan and the North.

Does anyone else think that this might be the result of Baker (and probably Cannan as well) having their ears chewed off about it while canvassing?

It's not very reassuring that obviously stupid decisions like this one only seem to get reversed if they happen to take place in the Minister's constituency in one month out of every five years.

In all honesty does it really matter what material is used? As long as it’s approved and widely used, it ticks the relevant boxes and it’s applied correctly. Unfortunately IOMG and it’s Department of Idiots have to make everything a 24 carat Rolls Royce Scheme, with a timetable to boot, and they still can’t get it right.

Disgusting priorities for a primary school crossing.

there's been NO crossing since the school was built, and no kids getting knocked over AFAIK thanks to the lollipop man, why does it even need a crossing now ??

"Savings" by making the lollipop man redundant?

I notice in the list of excuses for this Braddan delay that they blame having to use men to help on the promenade.

So they take staff of a project that needed to be finished in the short time window of the school holidays to help on a project that is already 11 months and counting behind and months away from completion( completion is a variable term)

Seems a bit daft

one guy doing 10 hours ?? a week during term time,   it will be quite a few years before any 'savings' even take place based on what this waste of time has likely cost.

It's on their to do list here, the strategic maintenance pdf for 21/22

It’s worth noting the cost of the Braddan School roadworks estimated cost £450K. I envisage it being well overbudget. Also loads of inconvenience as well, for road users, local residents and pedestrians.

Since when has normal thinking and common sense ever come into play. If they can’t finish it now, it’s unlikely to be finished by October half term - if it’s finished, it’s highly likely to be of shoddy workmanship and need redoing in the future.
