3. Collection at the end of the day – all of the children (yr1 – 6) will walk to Ballafletcher Sports Ground (opposite Nobles Hospital) – they can be collected from there between 3.00 and 3.30pm. Any children who normally get the school bus home will be supervised at school until the bus arrives.

so if its pissing down and blowing a hoolie all the little darlings, and some of them are little, are going to be made to walk 1/4 of a mile to stand outside until they can reunite with their parents,  add to this the lack of dayglo bibs and 'normal' traffic flow,  who with suitable public liability insurance and the lawful authority to stop traffic  is going to be helping them to cross the road where there are no pedestrian crossings ??

Why move them from a time/safety critical project to one that is already running late, what does another few dats more delay to the Prom matter?

Politics. Prom is higher profile and may have a bearing on somebody's re-election chances?

Exactly this but then he has Braddan School Road and Kirk Michael School Crossing blow-up in his face at the same time.

I'm calling it now, if re-elected he will be education minister. He handles schools so well!

There's been some significant "progress" on it during the last couple of weeks with sections reopening, personally I'd doubt that it's just a coincidence given what's gone on with it, somebody would be very keen for the public to be seeing things moving down there just lately?

And to be utterly cynical, if the Dept likes having that person "in charge" and would like that person back (apportion your own reasons), it might just be playing ball with the wishes for once.

If it is politics, it isn't the politicians who have made this political decision as they have been stood down.

Ministers are still legally in office - and in practice as well.  If decisions have to be made they still have the power to make them, though there are some limitations in the purdah period after the Keys is dissolved.  But in any case the decision to move workers to the Prom was made before the purdah period started.

It’s more than 1/4 mile I would say 1/2 mile , lovely dry sunny day why aren’t they working 12 hours a day to finish?

Surely some of DOI workers would like overtime?

The DOI put out a statement on Facebook self congratulatory about repainting the zebra crossing in Kirk Micheal on Friday and reinstalling the Belisha beacons on Saturday. Yes very self congratulatory all things considered when you have to do a job twice, as you have screwed it up first time. If it was done monochrome as a normal crossing instead of trying to be ‘different’ it wouldn’t have cost more. Also with the crossing being on the TT course, it seems there is going to be a TT premium added to each job, both getting resurfaced and repainted every few years and any other issues which attract the attention of the course inspection team.

As an aside it’s a good job the promenade in Douglas isn’t overly used for Motorcycle racing or Motorsports (other than the Rally). Will it be up to standard?

No, they can't.

They're blaming the fact they had to demolish and rebuild a wall as being the reason for the overrun.

If the work was scouted out properly and planned right then if wouldn't be an issue.

Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

Was the team pulled off to resurface the druidale road prior to the cycle fest this weekend?

yes they did,  what they should have done from the start , IF there had to be a crossing ?? was to install a pelican crossing.  this cuts down the amount of white paint required to make a legal crossing so safer for the TT/MGP/FOM racing,  it also puts up traffic lights that could have been of the velocity controlled type so the crossing doubled as traffic calming in that anything arriving at more than 30mph ( 20mph during school crossing times ) automatically turns the lights to red to teach them a lesson and take more time than if they had not exceeded the limit in the first place,  lastly, they could have had cameras to catch the red light ignoring twats.

Road networks aren't supposed to work like that.

Came off the early morning boat today behind a UK reg car and drove behind them along the prom. They swerved round the roundels as though it was a roundabout.  You could almost see the cartoon expletives and question marks coming out of the driver's window.

Would a sign saying it was an unmarked crossing and drivers should proceed with caution cause it to no longer be an unmarked crossing?

Minister Baker of the DOI on the Nations Propaganda Mouthpiece this morning saying there is nothing wrong with the concept of the black and red crossing. FFS if there is nothing why change? Dohhhhh there is an election and I need every vote. No courage of his convictions or able to stand firm. It was madness to use different colours, and it’s just burdening the taxpayers with more expense. It was never broke why fix it? Did the beloved ACU demand? Perhaps the ACU are running the island?
