doc.fixit
Still think the KM to Peel road is a good example of how a road should be.
Ramseyboi
Loads of roads around the island with markings removed at the moment, some were done about 6 weeks ago. Wasn't this work always done in August because of the warm and dry weather? Why are they now removing road marking (which are a road safety feature) and leaving the roads unmarked for weeks on end at a time of year when the nights are starting to close in and the weather is turning? monasqueen
It's to train people to drive in the fog. So much better when you can't see what side of the road you are on.

Because the Doi are a law unto themselves.

No Baldrine have def been removed as you can see clearly where they have been and the scoured ground

I don't think we will hear their dirty little mouths admit the failure before September 23rd. But it's based on what they're working on at present. monasqueen
Baldrine also has a sign at each end (or it did last time I went through) saying that there are no road markings, just in case you don't notice the difference.
Ramseyboi
Anyone know if they have used this stuff before? Interesting that it is specialists from UK. Will be interesting to see how it holds up if they are putting it on the hallowed TT circuit. ” A1 Peel to Douglas Road, at Greeba - surface treatment The Department has engaged Colas to undertake a programme of surface treatment on suitable road surfaces at a number of sites across the Island. The work is being undertaken by a specialist team from the UK. The first location to be treated will be the section of the A1 Peel to Douglas Road between Ravensdale, Main Road, Greeba and Greeba Castle. This work will be undertaken tomorrow (Wednesday 15 September) beginning after 9 am and will be completed by 4 pm at the latest. One lane will be treated at a time. Two way traffic will be maintained through the site using STOP/GO boards which will move as the work progresses. The product being applied is "Ralumac", which is a cold lay micro-asphalt surface treatment which is cost effective, durable, quick to apply and less environmentally impactive than other approaches to road maintenance. Sounds like it will be expensive and take forever to get done, especially the third time. 3

TheTeapot
It sounds like the type of stuff that will melt in hot weather and tear up, so they might just get away with it. For now.
ellanvannin2010
I wonder if people who cannot park within the new parking lines (which are pretty narrow) are going to be booked when the promenade is finished. Vast majority I saw today cannot park within the markings by virtue of either poor driving ability or cars that are too wide. Why have the width so narrow?.
