Also, what the heck is going on on the roadway/tramlines to the north of Broadway? They’ve made the carriageway really narrow and there some strange sort of chicane thing on the seaward side with toblerone concrete. I think a single white line around a parking space is just a guide. It is not an offence to cross the line as far as I am aware unless a fee is charged (and you are taking more than one space). A double white line indicates the extent of a parking zone, usually abuts a double yellow line and it would be an offence to exceed that. Therefore if your vehicle is too wide, i don't believe it matters unless you are causing an obstruction

Whoever designed the diversions and road works really doesn't know what they are doing. Before anyone says could I do better the answer is no, but then, I'm not an experienced or trained road works engineer or planner. Maybe the folk who created the mess aren't either? It's always been like that on the job. Heras fencing blocking sight lines, signs (when there are any) ambigious or poorly positioned. Onde drove down entire way from Villa to Sea Terminal because I missed the entrance to the walkway parking. Didn't bother trying a second time parked at ST and walked. Luckily a nice day. I do remember seeing the wife of a prominent member (now retired) driving towards me on my left from broadway heading south towards Church Road which was blocked off as was the usual north bound lanes in front of the villa gardens. So she was on her right hand side as you would have been in the old days but all the north bound traffic was diverted onto that side too. It was busy too. Just imagine how much more the job would have cost if they had done it properly?

I assume the thought (😏) that went into the design was any commercial vehicles shouldn't be parking there anyway? So we'll end up everytime there is any work on a building there with a section of carriageway fenced off in front of the property so they can park on site and a diverted footpath round it... narowing the road even further. Genius.

Genius. I've seen a few people comment on this across Faceache and Twitter recently - there seems to be a new trend of people just abandoning their cars in the carriageway (with hazards on) while they go into whatever home/business they're visiting. Now with the new narrower carriageways it just fouls the traffic up. Can't the selfish fuckers just fine the nearest actual parking space and walk a few metres? All for ticketing selfish lazy bastards like that.

Just give people a bit of slack and chill out so they can go about earning a living. 1

monasqueen
From Boris Johnson's Conference speech - looks as though he has recently been along the Prom! "we will invest in our roads unblocking those coagulated roundabouts" It's yet another way of describing the roundels!

english zloty
https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/myprom.im/21-08-13-signed-douglas-promenade-strategic-board-minutesnb_redacted.pdf the news picked up the further delay into November announced in August per these minutes. the more relevant thing is the Contractor and Rail specialist being in contractual dispute and the DOI being in dispute with the Contractor. that and the small matter of 'descoping' a lot of stuff and returning to sort issues with the rail crossing in winter and cracking at a later date - my guess, this is going to the Courts

That should go to court itself. We (as tax payers) signed off about £25m for them to deliver X, Y and Z. Instead they're just going to deliver a bit of Z. 1 hour ago, hissingsid said: I have always reckoned Christmas but it looks as if I have been over optimistic. Easter 2022 before all the crap (portacabins, plant etc) is shifted off the Prom and it resembles something that isn't a construction site once again. The horse tram 'corridor' along Loch Prom is an eyesore. Just grass it over.
The Phantom
**** WARNING - POSITIVE POST **** Had some clients over this week and they were staying at the Sefton. Actually the pics I've seen of complete bits are nice, but what a price?
