Gladys
Driving south along the prom this afternoon, the car ahead had to slam on their brakes as two hi-viz suited prom workers strode out from amongst the Hetas fencing across the unmarked crossing by the Villa. They didn't even look to see if there was traffic approaching. If they don't know how to use these things what chance do the rest of us stand? Or perhaps they do.

There is no way those crossings should be accessible while all that fencing is up. It is really dangerous as people can be almost completely hidden by the fences.

The way the site is set up there and with the amount of space they've got blocked off on the walkway, there should be no need to have an open access onto the 'live' highway. I'm sure they will have done a full H&S assessment for the set up... not.

Nanny state? Like I said yesterday the heritage trails crosses about 6 roads. Yes you could do all sorts of things but where or when would it end. I have cycled on many cycle trails in the UK and the Heritage trail is no better or worse IMO if people have insufficient savvy to work it out (or can't supervise kids suitably) then they should stay off. Next thing we'll be having traffic lights at all the crossings which would be a PIA for everyone
Ramseyboi
We just walked Broadway to the queens. WTF are those pink and purple bits about on the pavements? Having said that, and credit where it is due etc. The tarmac is good (maybe they should of used used tarmac everywhere?)

According to an email from the myprom team they are to make the junction more visible and promote priority to the pedestrian. *awaits news of a pedestrian being run over* 2

This colouring helps to make the junction more conspicuous and promote priority to the pedestrian. The blue colour will extend across the junction when the work is complete.”

Ace idea 🙄

monasqueen
I've known a number of people who have differing levels of colour blindness. Seeing that shade of blue as grey is very common. The colouring will not make anything look more conspicuous to such people, and it could be positively dangerous. Who dreams up these schemes?
