Dave Hedgehog
I did read somewhere that all of the streets between the prom and strand street close next week too...
hissingsid
The bus stops are as...one at the Villiers and one at the Gaiety. I shall be swerving town for the immediate future, may take a trip to Ramsey much more civilised.
Roger Mexico
1 hour ago, Dave Hedgehog said: I did read somewhere that all of the streets between the prom and strand street close next week too... Here you go: Quote Courier 6 September 2019 Regent Street, Howard Street and Granville Street (Douglas) Temporary Closure to vehicular and pedestrian traffic as follows – Regent Street between Loch Promenade and Villiers Lane; Howard Street between Loch Promenade and Villiers Lane and Strand Lane; and Granville Street from Loch Promenade to Granville Lane, from 6.00pm on 13 September 2019 until 6.00pm on 12 March 2020 or until the promenade reconstruction work is completed, whichever is the earlier. This work will be phased and only one of the aforementioned roads will be closed at a time. The one-way on the unnamed lane from Regent Street to Fort Street and Fort Street to Victoria Street will be suspended whilst Regent Street is closed and the one-way system on Castle Street will be suspended at such times as Granville Street is closed. Access to properties will be maintained. Access will also be allowed for emergency vehicles, public works vehicles, and others with the permission of the Department. This work is being carried out by Auldyn Construction as part of the Douglas Refurbishment Scheme. Contact details for Douglas Refurbishment Scheme MyProm Project are 686363 or email myprom@gov.im. DOI 384 So from today - but presumably only one of them.
foxdaleliberationfront
Not reopening the can of worms that is the subject of how long the work is taking, but surely it's not too much to ask for them to keep the public informed? What work? The last three times I've been to Douglas I've honestly not seen anyone working ! In fact, I've only seen about two fellows in dayglo. the stinking enigma
Commentating on this must be akin to trying to describe a perpetually rained off never ending cricket match. No wonder they've given up Edited September 13, 2019 by the stinking enigma
the stinking enigma
They'd be better off getting there arses down there and push a wheelbarrow or 2.
TheTeapot
Drove along the prom today by mistake. Seemed to be plenty of workers about. Why are the new horse tram tracks so high?

They seem to have a wrecking crew who are able to pull up the road. But nobody that knows how to lay the new road.

It's not been updated in 3 weeks. The last time Harmer and Co. got their arse kicked by Bettison, Callister and Robertshaw they were full of apologies and promises that the work sites wouldn't be more than 400m and that communication would be greatly improved... what a load of shite that turned out to be!! So is the stop sign at the bottom of broadway permenant, with no more traffic lights ?
