So the question is - who specified Beany blocks, Auldyn or the DoI? The same people who specified tram rails being set it concrete with no allowance for thermal expansion.

A great way to bust a joint in the drain [insert your own cannabis joke here] , creating problems long term as debris will get trapped in broken sections, increase the risk of leaks into the substrate and washing out the sand. And the sand will need to be cleaned out frequently because it acts as a filter, trapping any other particulates and if left too long these can bind to form a solid mass [insert your own laxative joke here]. Seen it happen with poorly drained cable ducts in marine environments where sand and sediment accumulates and sets like cement. The prom will truly be the never ending project. Move over flumes. Why and to what benefit he was unable to confirm. Ah the salesman saw him coming a mile off.... because if that is true, they are non-standard and will come at a premium cost. Not only that but in years to come any replacemnet will also be a special. But best of all the supplier will be free from any liability for the design of a non-standard product. I seem to recall they had issues with drains on Peel Road didn't they? https://www.isleofman.com/News/details/64462/company-defends-reputation-on-peel-road-work Not a good look for the Department of Infrastructure who will no doubt blame the contractor. Again. DoI Book of Excuses It was the contractor It was the weather It was the climate change It was the currency exchange rate It was the new regulations It was the bigger planes It was my predecessors fault It was the publics high expectation It was complicated It was unprecidented It was the voids (even though we didn't find any) It was a miscommunication It was a systemic fault It was a unique situation that required a unique solution It was the TT It was the pandemic (new entry) It was the new boat (new entry) It was the Hitler It was cheaper to buy it from Turkey It was cheaper to buy it second hand from America It was cheaper to buy it second hand from Liverpool City Council Any or all of the above 1

WTF
who'd have thought getting water to travel 30 feet back into the sea was going to be such a problem

So it needed to be overthought and overcomplicated to make it worth their time.
Ramseyboi
“Continuous footpath, give way to pedestrians “ signs in Kirk Michael where all Ken’s have been removed over a period of months at at considerable expense. Why? What problem does this solve? Same as the promenade ones. Just stupid and discouraging pedestrians from looking before they walk straight across a road. Why? What problem does this solve? Same as the promenade ones. Just stupid and discouraging pedestrians from looking before they walk straight across a road. The kerbs haven't been removed? A lot of new banked kerbstones have been installed throughout the village and flush, light coloured paviors installed in places to better define the edge of pavements where there was previously nothing to mark the edge of the road and the pavement. There's also now speed control humps and pedestrian walkways across roads that junction onto the main road through the village, such as Station Rd by the old Bank. I've been waiting for the DOI to announce that "pavement widening" has been completed which would be complete bollocks; there's no widening, at least not by more than an inch or so. What there is, is better definition. On a different subject, I see what "appears" to be the rough marking out of a new cycle lane now, from the bottom of Kerroomoar on the TT course Ramsey side of Sulby, which extends all the way in to the "K" Tree at the Conkerfields. It must be for slimline cyclists though, 'cos it can't be more than 12" - 18" wide in places 😂
Ramseyboi
What I saw was a tarmac pavement running straight across a junction where there used to be a Ken that a pedestrian would have to step off. I am not taking about the block paved ones they did a few weeks ago
