how many of the hundreds of extra government staff recruited during the last 12 months have been installed at the DoI?

Well theres the unknown amount of Engineers employed there that nobody seems to be able to quantify .

Another worrying issue. Have a friend with businesses on the prom and he tells me Auldyn/DOI have been down at least every other day working on the drains. Apparently theres blockages stopping the water getting away and there struggling to clear them. Apparently it seems its concrete in most cases and not confined to one area .

Who'd have guessed - drainage problems on a DoI project

Not many on roads!! Mostly cabinet office, contact tracing, security at ports for checking forms etc , you would expect lots of the jobs to disappear as we remove restrictions.

This is not an image from the .prom, but I do think it is amusing and relevant. When the DoI designed the new Laxey bridge they replaced the old, humped, bridge that diverted flood water from Minorca Hill into the river, with a new flat bridge that allowed the flood water to pass straight over.
This is a photo a local took during the Second Great Laxey Flood, using milk to show water flow. Clearly the flood water has some disdain for the drainage system the DoI has installed.

Except they won't, there's a fair chance they'll mostly be found other placements within Govt, as is always the way. Turfing them out on their ears puts them on the unemployment/bennies figures which is politically unpalatable too. Imagine a sudden increase of 300+?

I walked the prom today and they are trying to clear a blockage on queens promenade with a compressor and water lance , ironically that area does not suffer from sand and shingle washing over  as happens on other parts of the prom , further down near the palace shops another man was trying to clear a section of drain with a water tank and compressor , the design of these drains is    unsuitable for areas where  storm deposits ,horse manure , sand and gravel  can easily fill the drain holes on the kerb and fill the whole box  drain up ,

another major design problem is along by the war memorial where there used to be a raised footpath between the promenade walkway and the road , this reduced the water sand and shingle  that got onto the roadway in bad weather   , that new design has nothing to divert water  back into the sea and on an inshore gale everything will wash up  into the drainage system blocking it  , you have to ask yourself who designed these things , there will need to be men down there clearing drains all the time , what a waste of time and money,    !l likewise the sand and shingle on the Beach is higher then I can ever remember it , just waiting for the next onshore gale
