finlo
Just put the sodding things on a loop around Onchan park might as well get some use out of the place.

This !! Can they get any more incompetent . They have spent a fortune on a Prom with supposedly horse trams gracing the front and now they are considering their worth !! Total total muppets everyone of them . How the hell did the Victorians manage to lay the tracks succesfully all those years ago without the 2 1/2 k CS brains trust behind it all. Its 4 years this September !!! For what ? Poorly finished cracked concrete surrounded by equally bad laid tarmac and a walkway which they weren't supposed to touch looking like a bomb site .And its likely that the trams are history due to major cock ups by Longworth . Mind blowing really . Edited April 23, 2022 by Numbnuts 4
snowman
Get rid of the horse trams. They cost too much to run. They're in the way. Or at least move them to the seaward side Edited April 24, 2022 by snowman
quilp
@Kopek Remind me what all the other answers might've been because this kind of question has been asked before. What is the minister's angle this time around? The question is really no different than the last time it was asked, what was the answer back then? Is Mrs. Caine pro or anti horse trams? Given the service has continued to lose money hand over fist, for decades, and with the chances of recouping future investment and increasing running-costs virtually nil, what is the answer? Catering for the trams during the project has cost time and money and still, exactly what the plan is for them, after all this time, remains a bit of a mystery.
Kopek
In true politician response, ''That's a very good question''. !! The time has passed now for true interpretaion of the Prom as a major throughfare or a Disney display for three months while we locals suffer the restriction of this antiquated tourist tack even while the Trams are not running. We want more business, more employees yet restrain their journey into Douglas??? They may as well stay in the UK??? 2

0bserver
What's truly shocking is they have no idea how much money they're planning to lose this year. In recent FOIs they've not been able to put a figure on expected losses. They're literally playing trains with a blank chequebook... yet we squeeze Manx Care for all the cost savings under the sun.

The really interesting question is whether they lose more by having the infrastructure, rolling stock, horses and essential staff and running no service than operating a full service with seasonal staff employed but a small ticket income. Suspect not running the service just about loses less. So it can be sold as a victory.
