You've already effectively lost them. They haven't run for 4+ years, no longer run the full course of the Promenade and what has been laid down for them is currently unfit for purpose and is having to go remedial work to make it fit (if ever). The only place they're going to be kept now without more huge financial intervention is a museum.

Amen!  I was always fairly indifferent to them even with them being a loss maker and funded by taxes.  However now with the prom shambles and the additional expense that has (and probably will be) needed to get them running, then someone definitely needs to grow a pair and kill them off once and for all before any additional expense is accrued.

The horse trams are still desired by a lot of the population.

Yes - as they were, perhaps with fond memories and a big lump of nostalgia. Those that wanted them kept wanted them incorporated as they were.

But that's no longer the case, they've been butchered, messed around with and the layout altered beyond all recognition, all apart from the facts that it's incomplete and what there is there doesn't work. How much more money, on top of what's already been spent, should be thrown at trying to make a silk purse out of what is now a very, very expensive sow's ear?

Douglas promenade, the unrepaired walls etc plus the state of other areas of island got a lot of adverse comments on Mannin line today

The cash spunked on horse trams could go a long way to fixing a lot of that stuff.

they had a horse and tram out at lunchtime today   trying to navigate the points and crossing opposite Castle Mona Avenue  lots of grinding  and power tools  in use  at least 4 vehicles there including DOI  , as the Chinese say many hands make light work  . perhaps we might get a picture or two , I could not stop because of the traffic backed up it looks like everyone  has switched from using Glenclutchery road because of the  water authority road works and long tail backs ,

I see they had a digger valiantly removing the sand on the for shore today. Is this to pay lip service to the people that have been shouting this is all that is needed. Not a new, start at 5 million (then think of a number then add a cost it could never reach) to spunk against. At least we tried it, then failed. Failed to mention it was a mini track digger with a 36" blade and a 2 cubic ft bucket. For fucks sake bring in a couple of the big shovels from the quarries with the 4 ton buckets and give us the 8 foot drop it used to be in front of the palace. Though then we really will need an 8' fence for health and safety

M25 and M6 go into a bar on  Friday night,  having a chat about how busy it's been etc. A local goes up them and warns them that one of their mates is coming in, that means trouble,  always results in a fight.

A bit later a scruffy bit of old road comes in, the bar goes quiet. The road goes up to the bar a demands a double scotch. M25 looks at M6 and says quick, we must get out of here, M6 says don't be silly he's just a bit of knackered old road .... M25 say no he isn't he's a cyclepath.

NT that's a cracker!!!

this is a joke , if there going to re profile the beach at Douglas and fill in the areas where the scour has taken place  then don't use toy diggers  that are totally unsuitable for the job ,  a decent bulldozer  with a  big blade is whats required to the job in a quarter of the time ,  this is just about all you can expect from a bunch of amateurs or is it someones mate from the Corpy who has got the job ,

True but who is putting £350k's worth of dozer on the beach for the rates that DBC or DOI think they can get away with paying?

I have it on good authority that the backhoe digger that used to be on the beach, all the time was getting about £22.50 an hour.

Go and buy a similar £50k machine, put a driver in it, pay him minimum wage, stick it in a very corrosive environment and see how that goes......

Same but worse with a big dozer.
