Omobono
I think the big problem they will be facing is the huge gap on the internal part in the rail , this will allow the existing much thinner original tram wheels to move considerably , and we may find different wheels have to be fitted which defeats the principal of running a historic Victorian railway , I cant believe there bringing a UK firm to reface and clean the rails , and at significant cost which they will never recover ,

The clippity clop of horses hooves on tarmac are louder than the ring that sounds off the rails. 365 day a year horse trams it is then! 😂

The Phantom
Gold is pretty un-reactive. I think the solution is clearly to make some golden rail covers for the winter. Where do I submit my eye-watering consultancy invoice again? 1

Do they hell, the action of the trams does it when they restart for the new season. Steam railway presumably the same?

You're saying that like losing the concrete would be a bad thing. 1

Half the concrete will be gone after a decent storm so it's only pre-empting the inevitable.
quilp
I wonder how that red stuff's gonna be after 500,000 steel-shoed hoof-beats, on top of the carriage vibration.

finlo
I saw an actual tram that appeared to be in service earlier opposite the Empress.
The Old Git
I've been stuck in queues behind a tram twice this week so far. Not necessarily the trams fault, just the useless tossers who can't pass one.

To be fair to tossers, there is now much less room to pass a tram as the distance between the 2 tracks is much bigger than it was before.

According to the DOI there is more room now to pass, although you are correct about the spacing between the two tracks, it is about 30cm more gap. https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/more-space-for-trams-and-traffic-insists-doi-228434
