Promenade - Megathread

>It's a good job that the DOI have widened the road. {according to them) as the bus I was on only had to stop twice for the driver to get out and move cones to make the carriageway wide enough to get through. A slightly wide car had parked in the parking area and caused havoc by overhanging the lines  until the driver of the bus moved the cones.... gridlock. When will this farce finish. I live on the prom and have a new section of double banked cones outside. But no sign of anyone working in the area. This thread was started 26th July 2013..less than 2 weeks to yet another annual 🎉

1.5 miles of road. Is this going to go into the Guinness book of Records.?

More like 1.75 miles so it is harder than 1.5

Well, I have just driven across the prom, mid summer's evening, dead as a doornail and dark and miserable! The lighting is totally abysmal, no atmosphere whatsoever. Quite frankly a bloody disgrace for somewhere that purports to be a vibrant holiday destination!

Apart from that, the whole town has deteriorated as far as nightlife goes. (I visited a handful of pubs, full of half wits to be honest) I'm glad I wasn't drinking at £5.00 a pint, although that doesn't seem to deter the trackies and trainers gobshites who frequent the town these nights!

We're doomed!

This is nightlife across the Island with the possible exception of Peel at the weekends. Lots of factors including social changes for sure but the Good Doctor says we're not in recession so that definitely can't be part of it....no Sir.

thats because the silly council have either closed the public toilets  and every other amenity we used to enjoy   or made them pay ,  street stinks of piss and in all the little alleyways , what happened to their fantastic CTV  that was going to stop this anti soclal behavior  , dog fouling  and vandalism that seems to rife in the town centre ?

I mentioned the same when Amedeus was in a thread as Strand Street and around any bins etc is just terrible. How long would it take to jetwash these areas !! Not long . What exactly do the DC do for the increased rates .

Remember the days when the Colonnade was hosed down in the early hours of a summer’s morning.

Every morning, at around 5am while the beach was being cleaned and the prom swept from one end to the other! I used to see it regularly with my own eyes.

Strand Street, Duke Street and Castle Street were swept and cleaned last thing at night!

This lot have no clue, more interested in socialist dogma than actually doing anything about anything!

Ah ,  but are we not waiting to recruit a services manager ?  the gully sucker has a jet wash fitted and the Scarab street sweepers  have sprays fitted for cleaning places like strand and regent streets which are filthy and stinking  they could also take water from the fire hydrants and run the street sweeper through it ,

I guess the Corpy and city fathers   just couldn't be arsed

It's a long time since any of that sort of cleaning happened, and if you think that the previous gang who ran the Town were interested in socialist dogma (or indeed any sort of ideas at all) then you must have been smoking something strong.

The area in front of the Sefton was always going to end up looking dreadful because the DoI used the same old Chinese granite and it always looks terrible after a short time because it is so light in colour.  Lessons are never learned.
