It's akin to the war reparation payments- guilt money, in Britains case. Poland, recently claiming $900 billion from ze Germans for the damage Adolf foisted on their country. And Greece, €279 billion for the same reasons.

That's quite a kick in the Lederhosen.

In comparison the £98 million 'handout', over 2 years, seems a small price to pay for the near 200 years of exploitation of the india sub-continent by the British, all things considered.

But why should the Isle of Man pay them foreign aid? We are (and remain) an exploited colony just like India was.

How exactly is the UK exploiting the Isle of Man? Where would we be were it not for the very generous customs agreement over recent decades? What would an independent Manx nation look like? What would be our place in the world, what would we do for a living etc? Is not the current situation, home rule under the Crown, a pretty good place to be?
