Laxey flooding

the stinking enigma

Interesting to listen to some of the excerpts from the Tynwald debate. Apparently said contractors hadn't shored up or obstructed the access hole in the wall with sandbags or boards. They'd put orange plastic netting across it instead, of the type you find around roadworks. According to Daphne anyway.

That was only to have a visual barrier, so kids or dogs etc did not go through the “hole”.

That’s not entirely true. They also put up a wire fencing panel. The type that sieves flood water as it pours through.

It’s still lying propped up against a wall same way away

So you agree, that following a thorough risk assessment (TBC) and a yellow weather warning for heavy rain and possible flood risk that it might not have been the best material to use to block up a flood defence wall?

No connection mate. They made a hole in the wall and because of safety issues, they put up a visual barrier. That was never intended to hold flood waters back, just the least they could do to prevent people, as in kids , falling through into the river. Some people need to take a step back here. Some MHK’s need to get a grip on reality. Real people have been devastated by this shite and nobody should be trying to gain votes by it. Yes you D C

The CM has ordered a full independent enquiry so we shall see.

A contradiction in terms on IoM....

Overwhelming evidence will be taken and accepted from MUA management. No fault or blame will be apportioned and they were all pensioned happily ever after.

I am the Chief Expert, appointed by the Chief Secretary as requested by the Chief Minister. Every couple of months, clear the river of fallen trees and such rubbish and don't knock holes in the wall. That'll be £50k, please

Exactly the opposite of what Dr Allinson said on the radio.
