There are over 300 classic cars and 600 visitors coming in mid September for the ‘Festival of Motoring’ according to 3fm news. A welcome addition, but what does concern me is the polices involvement - a police motorcade on a parade of classic cars from the Grandstand to Ramsey between 10-11. It’s like an obsession, must involve the police. Will it be like the Mark Cavendish TDF ride out, police out riders and plod in ceremonial dress directing and stopping traffic? Expensive,Extravagant and completely unnecessary.

Incidentally would the police look at vehicles, from a health and safety point of view? Are the tyres legal? Perhaps some scrutiny up at the Grandstand may be in order - if us locals have to put with it, I don’t seem why others can’t.

What would the police be doing if they weren't doing this?

What makes you think that the cars are not road legal, it's more likely that Manx vehicles travelling from Heysham have defects. Perhaps the MoT should be checking every car that gets off the boat over three years old?

The chief constable was very vocal about the lack of police.  Seems we can rustle a few up for tourism just not to investigate crimes.

Police need all their resources to reduce the amount of drugs available to our young people.

If anything they need to increase the amount of drugs. Without good quality green to chill them out they'd be drinking alcohol, having fights and causing criminal damage.

There’s a massive drugs problem in the younger population & as they get older they progress to harder drugs & criminality to fund habits, one of biggest issues we have

Absolutely not the case at all. But it fits a narrative to keep repeating it.

Hahaha.

The biggest problem is a lack of truthful education about the subject.

Well being involved in addiction charities I can tell you it is the case unless you know better from your vast experience in counseling for addiction?

There will always be a certain % of people who choose unwise lifestyle choices, for various reasons.

You are taking a sample size of such cases and attempting to extrapolate that across larger numbers. If your hypothesis was the case then we would see a breakdown of society, as most people have tried drugs of some description in their younger years. However most either dispense with them once they start to grow up or use them recreationally and responsibly with a small % ending up in addiction. Which is why we don't have a zombie apocolypse across the island.

Your porkies are getting porkier, involved in addiction charities my arse...

Just because you do fuck all to help anyone doesn’t mean we all do, look back over last year & you will see numerous posts mentioned involvement. Typical response from you & your sidekick Teapot !!

Look at a few local addiction charities website for annual reports & you will see the growing problems in drugs & alcohol but that’s too easy isn’t it
