Donald Trumps
They have many more passengers to carry Little point in new Manx ferries being much bigger than the ones they already have What we need is a fastcraft with better fuel economy & sea handling to run a service to Liverpool throughout as much of the year as possible so that ideally millions didn't have to be spent on flights for folks having medical treatment there

Frances
The Irish sea is shallow and subject to relatively quick changes in condition - the catamaran type fast craft can handle most seas but the passengers and RoRo cars etc either cannot or are unwilling to tolerate the buffeting and motion sickness - the small fast craft didn't become known as the vomit comets for nothing - the larger the vessel generally the better the handling in rough seas but also the more energy required to move it and fast craft are inherently expensive in need for power. The traffic to/from Ireland having at least 100x the population is great enough to allow for longer + larger ships which can provide a somewhat better ride tho even they are not exactly pleasant in some sea conditions. The old Sea Packet in days of mass tourism had a large fleet most of which were laid up outside of the short holiday season but today the capital cost of such would either require very great subsidy or extremely high fares - the existing TT numbers can easily overwhelm the available transport if even the smallest thing goes wrong - in many ways it is a crazy way to provide transport but only possible by the considerably higher fares charged during these short peak loading periods. TheTeapot
They could always try swapping the timing of the weekend seacat and advertising the hell out of it for a few 'special weekend getaways' in the northwest of england. Can't be that hard.

Looking at the way we are paying people to move here through a similar lack of reasons to move here being present I wouldn’t be surprised to see a campaign where we ultimately offer tourists fifty quid each to come here. It seems to be that paying people is the only way we can generate any traction.
