Yes. There is currently no equally effective equivalent for people who do not have an iPhone. The Apple AirTag becomes part of a network which includes most iPhones. So @trmpton's lost handbag or purse will ping any iPhone nearby and they will be able to watch it on a map (assuming their iPhone wasn't also in the bag).

Similar Android compatible devices such as the Tile only ping other people who are running the Tile app. So typically those things will only tell you where you last had it. Apple have scored a hit with these things.

You don’t need any other apple devices to use them.  Just an iCloud account which you can access from any web browser on any device.

 

edit - actually you might to set them up.  Google it.  They are brilliant little devices.

We have them in wallets, purses, cars, motorbikes and pushbikes, school bags etc

That's great if your dog heads for a populated area with lots of people with iPhones. Useless if it heads for the woods, beach, hills etc.

You want a GPS tracker for animals. Not Bluetooth.
