Isle of Pride

I have no problem with the Isle of Pride at all but I do question the amount of political members associated with Pride - https://www.isleofpride.im/meet-the-team/ Ann Corlett MHK, Claire Barber (MHK & Minister) Jane Poole Wilson (MHK and Minister of Justice and Deputy Chief Minister). Lots of Political clout there.  Hope no pressure is ever put on Government Departments to do as they say!!!! #justsaying

To be honest in addition to the ridiculous number of politicians that page looks like a role call of the usual Manx ‘worthies’ and a few token gay & trans people tagged on at the middle and end.

I’m not going to call anyone who isn’t going, doesn’t want to go, or can’t go. At the end of the day it’s personal choice and to some their views and opinions (as long as they aren’t offensive or illegal) which sadly some people don’t care about and resort to verbal attacks. I have issue with the parade and event in the VM, and I went last year. Like others have commented, the cabal of MHKs and their involvement, particularly at this moment, when this island doesn’t know how the energy and financial crisis is going to affect the island. Coupled with the other crisis, I have doubts as to them truly devoting their energies to their other role.

Incidentally as someone who has been to the Manchester Pride Carnival in August Bank Holiday, which is world famous. This started off free but over the years has becoming more and more commercialised, and this is well noticed and commented upon. Most of the entertainment is paid for ticketed, where it used to be free. I envisage this event possibly charging people to recoup costs, particularly through the use of the VM. If anything is successful like the Festival of Jurby, IOMG will find a way to muscle their way in, or impose a mountain of red tape, health and safety inspections etc, fire safety,

We would be going if it wasn’t The Royal Show on the same day.

It’s a major scheduling mistake that and will cost them a large percentage of their potential atendees.

That’s a bad conflict for gay Manx farmers.

Typical Manx planning to be fair. Last weekend there was Castletown event plus Nobles park had their annual event plus something else on that escapes me for the moment. Don't the clowns in charge of these events talk to each other? By spreading the events evenly, they all stand a chance of getting better attendances

That’s a bit rich. What actual conflict do you think exists in audiences between a gay pride event and a local farming and produce show? Do you really think a load of old ladies who go to the Royal Show to watch sheep shearing demonstrations would also be wanting to adopt rainbow wigs and throwing confetti at each other on the prom?
