If you have a charity and have an event or special day, having the lights switched to your colour(s) for a day or a few days is free. Just ask your friendly council representative Anyone know what has happened to the new led lighting on the promenade? It has not been turned on again since the pride festival! The expensive new lights on the prom are the only thing on island still not fixed (assuming the storm caused it) Would you not have a service agreement for something so new that would mean parts were either kept on island or available within a set timescale? What a joke

What a joke Surely IOMG must have employed full time electricians who can go out and fix the lights, or will the job get farmed out to IOMGs mates and favoured contractors?

Quite frankly I haven't seen the promenade lighting functioning all summer, the prom is a dismal deserted place at night, not quite what inspires confidence in any tourism destination! 1
Asthehills
Who installs electrics in big metal poles and doesn’t have lightning protection anyway? DBC by all accounts.

hissingsid
The old festoon lights were the best but the miserable DC decided to get rid now Douglas looks like a backwater, gloomy and miserable.

How many times were they taken out by a storm and not fixed weeks later in the years they were there?

You'll be delighted to learn they have been preserved, re-lamped, and installed on south quay and north quay.

When you install something new and expensive you make sure you have an agreement in place with the supplier that anything that goes wrong can be quickly and easily resolved. Being on an island that often means a discussion about which spares need to be kept locally - even if it means paying a bit more. It”a pretty standard practice. Surely the supplier is way outside the terms of contract and their SLA if we have been without lights for this long so soon after they were installed?
