COVID-19 UK & Beyond

I see that on the morning after the news that the UK has the highest death rate in Europe from COVID-19, 90% of the press decided to focus on the lockdown-busting behavior of Neil Ferguson...which occurred a month ago. But we’ll publish it today. And even if it was contemporary, one man shagging another man’s wife is more of a headline than nearly 30,000 deaths is it?  Most of the British press is a disgusting cesspit.

Fixed!

Can't fault the sentiment mind.

I guess they figure it's a better headline than:

"Bozo and his Bungling Brexiteers' inadequate performance results in the UK having the highest death rate in Europe"

or similar....

Surely you haven't just realised that?

Correct - I was reiterating a sentiment I first voiced 50 years ago.

Watched PMQ's today.

It looks to me like Starmer has got Bozo's MO and is capitalising on it. Good. The tories have had it too easy for too long and our version of democracy needs a decent opposition to function proper like.

An example:

With any luck Starmer will be the next PM. Corbyn was utterly useless, the 6th-form socialists have more or less left the higher echelons of the labour party.

You are absolutely correct. Starmer will, repeatedly, eviscerate Johnson at PMQs. He’s more intelligent, has more gravitas, does his homework, and, after all, has had a career founded in cross examination. Johnson hasn’t a hope in hell of outperforming Starmer in the Commons. His blustering bullshit will rapidly look very amateurish indeed in the face of Starmer’s controlled politeness. It’ll be interesting to see what happens (and indeed how soon it happens) when the Tories have had enough of their leader finishing third out of two competitors.

Sure but the hard of thinking brexiteers love Bozo and he can do no wrong. On Facetube they can't even understand that the UK and the USA have the greatest number of fatalities on the planet with the blindingly obvious similarity between the two being that they both have populist leaders who are clearly and utterly completely out of their depth.

Cannon fodder tory MP's will only start bitching about Bozo when their constituents start bitching at them. And they can easily be silenced by pointing out the paucity of talent in the current tory party. Usually the replacement PM comes fron the Cabinet. Bozo surrounded himself with brexiteers because that's wot won it!

Talking of which the brexit faithful morons are still careering towards an EU exit based on a completely unknown economic situation due to the pandemic.

Just how stupid are these people...?

Remember all the hype about this?

Is there anything Bozo and his Bungling Brexiteers can't f-up...

Coronavirus PPE: all 400,000 gowns flown from Turkey for NHS fail UK standards

Health department understood to be returning shipment of PPE

I suspect very much that the identity of a new Tory leader, and when it’s time to ditch the incumbent, is decided by a small cabal of senior figures who don’t give a flying one about the views of the lobby-fodder back benchers or the blue rinse party members - though you are correct that the latter will forever be starry-eyed about Johnson. One of those who decide when Johnson has been tied in knots by Starmer one too many times will of course be Murdoch. Johnson is an empty vessel and although there’s essentially no chance of Labour overturning his 80 seat majority at the next election, the party won’t want five years relentless public humiliation of their vacuous frontman by the leader of the opposition, with the likely consequential substantial erosion of their majority.

Bozo is useless.

Yesterday in PMQ's, under pressure from Starmer over their better late than never testing, Bozo blurted out that the intention was to get to 200,000 tests a day by the end of May.

This must have been the first Matt Hancock had heard of the 200,000 per day because apparently the look on his face was one of complete shock!

You would have thought by now that Hancock would have been well versed in Bozo's tactic of "When in trouble lie your way out of it" but it's Hancock who will pay for it...

Indeed yes; the lifelong Bozo tactic of dodging the issue whilst simultaneously dumping on someone else. Now that he’s in the hotseat, that tactic will soon become more than a little tiresome for those inconvenienced by it. At some point, the shadowy decisions makers of the Tory party will decide that Bozo’s usefulness in bamboozling the idiot electorate and being the darling of the tabloid press has been overtaken by the sheer grind, difficulty and negativity of putting up with, and scrambling to reverse the damage of, his many failings. At which point the metaphorical bullet will enter his skull. I think it will surprise many people how soon that will come about.
