Another case of, "We've spent so much now that we may as well carry on"? Where did they think that the money would come from, or was that not a consideration? Would all of the elected had this mindset though, was there no opposition? And what of the ratepayers opinions? John Wright Posted February 19 Share Posted February 19 Of course Howie’s letter doesn’t really refer to the access road suitability. Just parking congestion. It was up to DoI Highways. And of course Braddan, and their legal advisers, both when they bought and before they committed to build, should have obtained a proper access easement signed and recorded in the land registry. The fact there isn’t one, apparently, in the deed by which they bought, 20+ years ago, indicates that access to the site was only ever going to be from the public Highway. Thats just a letter of support. Not an access agreement. This fiasco is down pure and simple to the lack of planning and foresight of Braddan Commissioners. To think one of the original reasons for the Roundhouse, was a) Braddan Commissioners Corporate Headquarters, and b) A meeting place where events like Requisition Meetings and Election Hustings could be held. Look at the screw-ups the IoM gov. has managed to create - and they have the backing of a huge Civil Service staffed by a large number of highly experienced, highly paid, individuals.
