They probably didn’t take him seriously as you would have been aggressively arguing with yourself like a deranged lunatic for other people to laugh at. Funny now you want to moan about Braddan Commissioners you aren’t constantly trolling and abusing other posters who say anything about Douglas you unbelievably deranged multiple personality lunatic. This is really quite funny to watch now.

We’ve got a live one 😂

also has a therapy suite

Not sure what type of therapy they are referring to but I know of one who was relocating to there until they suddenly upped the rent significantly than what was originally offered and has now relocated somewhere else.

Upping the rents to cover their increased costs. Things could get difficult.

Actually it's already been granted in May 2023 as the Manx Radio piece also says.  But they've not built it yet because, as Stu says, they haven't got the money.  Presumably one reason for that is that the original costings didn't include it as they'd been told they could access of the DHSC roads.

Not necessarily a lot of traffic though, except possibly at pick-up/drop-off for the proposed nursery.  And given that a lot of the prospective tenants were supposed to be health-related - pharmacy, dentist and so on, having access from the Palatine would make sense.  So does a separate access as well of course, but you can see why it wouldn't be essential to start with.

The whole thing looks more like the DHSC throwing their weight around because they can and they've got nothing else to do.  If anything you'd think this should be a Manx Care decision, but they seem to be silent.

Commissioners should call DHSC's bluff. It's been open long enough to be a public highway anyway (is it 19 years by law?) and there certainly aren't private road or similar signs up to set it out as private.

At worst an interim arrangement will need to be agreed, it is not practical to have a ratepayer's outlay of millions sitting there doing nothing each month because some tinpot chief has decided they don't like the arrangement, and it is also not fair to businesses lined up to go into the Roundhouse facing months of uncertainty.

And this is all said not being a big believer in the development, but now it's effectively up having two taxpayer funded arms blocking each other is not good for anyone.

Taxpayers?

The hospital site and Palatine are clearly controlled by Manx Care, and it’s signposted clearly with Manx Care logo, certainly not DHSC.

This saga is a mess, and whilst most Braddan ratepayers want this complex to start producing revenue, it’s clear, that overall there are power battles going on. The driveways from Balloates into the Roundhouse is single track with passing places. It’s clear that cars have gone on the grass outside Newlands, hence the wood posts. It’s also clear that service users have parked their vehicles in the Palatine staff car park - hence the Manx Care notices. What’s to say that Roundhouse users will not park their vehicles in Palatine patients car park, both clogging the roads and depriving legitimate users of car parking. Build it then worry about other details afterwards.

No real difference taxpayer vs ratepayer in my eyes, rates are a tax.

A compulsory tax (for property owners) of which if you evade, don’t pay or are late paying you are taken to court. In the old days your name would be printed in the newspaper for added embarrassment, as you would be fined for non payment.

So now we'll have lawyers getting fat off of ratepayers and taxpayers to sort out a dispute that should never have happened. Presumably the £6m+ DoI loan is needed to fund the access road and they won't be able to open until it is in place? Presumably access isn't just for customers in cars but staff, delivery vehicles and fire engines etc.

The last thing we need is people not being able to use medical facilities because adequate access and parking provision has not been made at a brand new site.

Guess there is always the overflow car park.

A crock of never ending shit, created by Braddan Commissioners, its Chair and egged on by the previous administration. It’s not rocket science to realise the volume of traffic, both users and staff working at the Roundhouse, will use Ballaoates as their main entrance, and with other vehicles entering via the hospital helipad entrance, what’s the betting of a collision or two?

Thought the loan was to cover overspending on project, commissioners will recoup loan charges by charging commercial ratepayers more . Don’t think they want to build road as no cash.

They may not have a choice in the matter, if they are prevented from using the road. If they use the entrance, and there is an issue later on, possible accident, then I can see action taken against the commissioners and they will be compelled to build a road, cash or no cash.

That’s one potential problem.

The overflow car park for hospital patients?   Opened due to ongoing complaints about lack of adequate parking for clinic attendees, visitors, etc?   That’s a second potential problem - especially given the number of complaints regarding hospital parking provision.

I notice in the MR report that safety of patients, employees and emergency vehicles is given as a reason not to allow the hospital roads to be used as access.   I can see it now: “Blue light ambulance collides with Roundhouse visitor while attempting to attend 999 call”.

The roads are quite narrow and I would not say ready to take extra traffic they are used by emergency vehicles and patients walking between the main building and DATSU  and the safety of patients, emergency vehicles and employees would most certainly be compromised.
