Or is it that the science around 7 day testing is iffy?

The entire 'science' around CV is 'iffy'.  The problem is that Johnson and Mr Toad err on the side of 'we will avoid 'iffy' at any cost should it stand any chance of hanging us come the public inquiries.  Political self-preservation is the overridng consideration in all their decision (LOL) making.

OK. Arrived back at 06.00 today. Arrived at Portsmouth 21.00 last night.

UK passenger locator form has QR code for scanning. Wasn’t asked for.

Manx form says it will be inspected, it wasn’t, and that they’dsend a second e-mail with all the T&C, they didn’t. They did want to see my photo ID. The Manx Borders official had a sheet of paper, ticked me off. 5 cars with 7 passengers came off the Ben.

all working as advertised then.

I would advocate his recommendation of mask wearing however. For him. He’s not the prettiest chocolate in the box and something to cover up those massive gnashers would be hugely welcome.

Gnashers!! There's a word you don't hear very often. Nice work Rox.

No,  and neither will we if this useful source of information is lost.

But it's diluted by the facts that only a proportion of folks take a test and amazingly no key workers.

Surely that has to change.

There’s no mandatory 7 days testing for those going to UK hospital it was voluntary along with everyone else. Only difference you didn’t pay if you were going via patient transfers

I have spoken with four people in the last 10 days who returned from UK hospitals after surgery and all were told (presumably by DHSC) that they would need to have the 7 day test. I will check and revert where that instruction came from.

There is an announcement on the boat at departure and arrival saying go direct to place of self isolation do not stop to buy fuel, food, booze; and if you do you May be prosecuted. Perhaps they ought to add “ and there’s a strong possibility you’ll go to prison”.

Of the 10 border crossings  in 8 Weeks only one went as advertised. IoM to UK on way out. No checks advertised. No checks made.

As there is a very strong chance that you will almost certainly go to prison for any breach you’d think it worthy of a mention? They still seem to be shying away of open engagement with the public on this issue. It’s almost like they want to jail people just to show how tough they are even if it is shutting the gate well after the horse has bolted and people have possibly been infected. In contrast this is the approach the UK is taking. Nothing ambiguous there!
