As so often there's more detail in the official media release:

Two new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the Isle of Man.

The first case is a day 1 test result of someone self-isolating having travelled to the Isle of Man.  They remain in self-isolation and will be offered further tests on day 7 and 13 of their isolation period.

The second case is someone who developed symptoms and contacted the COVID-111 for advice and to arrange a test.  They are self-isolating along with other members of their household and will be offered a further test on day 13 of their isolation period.

The source of transmission for the second case has not yet been established, although contact tracing is continuing.  It means there is, as yet, no known link between this case and the existing clusters, including the case at St Mary’s Primary School.

This is all very worrying because we don't even seem to know how many clusters there are or how or if they are linked.  Of course we could do this through genomic sequencing but it's obviously more important for DHSC officials to maintain their petty vendettas and an outbreak of a deadly disease is a price worth paying for that.

At this point you may as well stop calling them clusters and just calling it community transmission. Which is what it is.

Is there any likelihood of false positives as Rachel mentioned last month as some of these cases seem random and there’s no clarification of second tests to ensure accuracy

The real worry is how they're handling any false negatives. And you make a good point about re-testing as well.

Testing contacts at this stage may well just be chasing the virus several steps behind.

And yet people here are still being allowed to use the forum to undermine the community response and spread a false narrative, propagating a lie that the current measures are somehow an over-reaction. Just as they previously pushed the idea that the border restrictions were unnecessary.

You're desperately clutching at straws aren't you ?

Do you still hold the view the lockdown isn't necessary?

I can see a speed limit announced tomorrow, a car has gone over Marine Drive!

It’s in a speed limit area isn’t it? Fairly sure it’s been a 40mph for years, might even be a 30 now? Police, Fire, Ambulance, RNLI and coastguard all on site, don’t think they’ll pull the speed card but they might try and restrict our limit on daily exercise due to the level of personnel required.

Current border restrictions are unnecessary, all measures since June have been unnecessary.

Still not seen a single person explain otherwise.

What else is unnecessary is the number of people jollying around the island and the number of non essential places open.

Really is getting on my nerves now.  Governemnt put us back in this position yet are still being applauded by people.  The same people who can't be arsed to just stay at home for three weeks and try and fix it.

Never seen so many people walking, cycling and driving past our house and adverts online for stupid takeaways, ca  i get my washing machine fixed etc.

There are obviously a number of separate cases out there.

STAY AT HOME ffs.  Apparently there were nob heads at mcdonalds today.  How on earth is that "essential"

Exactly this, daily total positives mean nothing if people are incubating the virus and not receiving second tests. New strain stays hidden for a lot longer, silent and deadly some may say.

Dr. Ewart says there may be community spread, "Under the radar" ( MR News).

No shit? Best get the equipment recalibrated then as we seem to be using a radar of the airport's new variety.

That's definitely a "no shit Sherlock" moment, if ever there was one.

Twitter, Facebook and other social media platforms would, quite rightly, moderate your post. At least adding a label effectively noting that it isn't true.
