You can do the calls from home, all you need is a head set & laptop, what do you think everyone working from home have been using for last 12 months, usual bad planning/no contingency plans

No matter how good they think their lies sound, or how much they believe them themselves, they will eventually come back to bite them on their arses. Add to that their ignorance, incompetence and corruption, and no wonder the island has been dying on its arse for quite a few years now. As long as "lessons are being learned", we're good to go.

When they were telling us that all civil servants were working, either from home, or redeployed, were they lying?! Why should they get full pay while if not working full time. Would we be able to ask for figures via the press of how many civil servants arent working during lockdown?

Yes the rather large figure will go down well with those struggling on their massive MERA of £230pw!

Mrs A got told yesterday to work from home today and beyond. She brought home last night two screens, her work computer and all the paraphernalia she needs and is now working away as normal in the attic. (just after I had cleaned up there as well !)

Markwell House closed today after a staff member tested positive.

I wonder where that's come from? Customer facing?

Surprisingly, Treasury staff have lives away from Markwell House, homes, families who work, kids who go to school. They even go and socialise, well some of them.

You're sort of casually demonising the service users who attend the public counters, when exposure could be anywhere.

But no, you automatically think of the “feckless” unemployed, sick, persons on benefits as a source of infection.

I may be ascribing more noble motives to Non-Believer than were intended, but I took the post more to indicate concern that the infected person might be a risk to the huddled masses queuing at their counter, rather than vice versa.

Not at all John, that's a bit needless IMHO. At no point have I said or intended to infer any of that. I was merely querying as to whether it could have been community spread. No inference as to any section of the community or their personal circumstances.

Sorry John but I didn't read it like that. The first thought that came into my head was... are the screens in the offices doing their job of keeping the virus at bay and do they have the windows open in the interview rooms?. Are the measures in place sufficient to keep the virus at bay? Nothing more than that.

On the first lockdown, there were some in the public service who were working incredibly hard.

I understand there were also others who were literally sat at home in the sunshine on full pay.
