IOM Covid removing restrictions

Here's the Manx Radio story (which is badly written even by their standards).  It's possible they were actually after other drugs but more likely dazed and confused  by whatever and somehow believing that the tests were that valuable or important.  Luckily the nurse had enough self-possession to resist and hopefully is OK.

The real joke here is on the Government who, after sensibly rejecting the use of LFTs for ages, jumped on the bandwagon, just as everyone else realised it had square wheels, and are now realising it has just provided more ways to make them look incompetent.

Edwin at Kinrades won’t stock LFTs now. He apparently can’t be arsed with all the drama and selfish behaviour. Which I don’t them him for. He’s there to provide a service not be interrogated by morons stocking up on freebies.

I wonder how many people would want these LFT'S if they had to pay for them.

There would be an immediate reduction, perhaps that would not have been the case when they were first muted, but time has moved on.  People do like a freebie and I am sure some have hoarded a lot.  i loved the way Ashford tried to spin a positive out of Comin's lack of planning the impact of LFT would have.

New cases in the 70+ category, most of whom should have had 2 jabs, seem to be rising relatively more rapidly than most - cases have roughly trebled in the last couple of weeks. Are they just taking less care, or is there a more serious, underlying reason? Is the effect of the vaccine wearing off?

LFT - heard a story this morning from someone in the Civil Defence (who have been assisting in handing these things out) that perhaps some were taking them to use when across on holiday. Not sure how that would work actually. Can IOM or other CD residents pick up LFTs in UK for nowt or do you have to register to receive them?

No vaccine will stop you catching CV. It just reduces your chances of being seriously ill and/or getting hospitalised.

If more people have it, then more people will catch it.

The fact that people could have purchased them locally or online for less than some of them have spent driving around the island looking for them just shows that people want stuff for free.

Anyone desperate enough would have just gone and purchased them.

It is probably that since schools are out, more grand parents, etc are baby sitting.
