IOM Covid removing restrictions

Good piece focussing on Dr G’s testing approach just aired on North West tonight. When you hear her speak and contrast that with Quayle it’s bloody sobering. Pleased to see that they didn’t pull any punches and identified that she quit DHSC ‘after a row with Ministers’. I’m sure many people will correctly interpret that as ‘due to fuckwit politicians getting it wrong’.

New update on government Facebook that 2 of the cases were already in isolation due to positive case in household with 1 other from unknown source at present.

if they’d put this information on at outset it would have saved lots of speculation!!

Just a query about key workers and their accommodation while over here. Are they only accommodated in the hotels in Douglas, or also in other types of accommodation eg holiday cottages etc?

Ramsey park hotel is also home to railway and telecom workers.

They can use any accommodation, anywhere on the island, so long as it meets the criteria.

So, if they are accommodated in holiday cottages how are they monitored to ensure that they comply with the restriction requirements? Seems worryingly lax to me!

Yes, but Ramsey Park is a hotel with meals available. If key workers are housed in holiday cottages how do they obtain their meals if they are not allowed to visit local shops & supermarkets?

Takeaways are delivering. As are regular shops, Island wide.

But we already have PCR testing, and the capacity of the lab hasn't been an issue so far, so perhaps they do!

Yes, but Dr Glover has explained that her process makes sure that the right genetic material is tested and reduces the false negatives.  The capacity of the lab may not be an issue now, but surely we are going to have to ramp up testing as we trace and (should?) take second tests to verify a negative?

They get random checks the same as anyone else isolating, assume they get food delivered, stocked up before arrival, takeaways delivered etc etc
