Great to see self-praise that the Day 1, 7 and 13 testing is identifying cases.

I have more influence now that I tweet my expertise then I ever had when I was on "the inside" after volunteering my expertise.

Still no genome sequencing response from the UK, 2 weeks later.

If they fancied sending everything from the NYE cases to date down to my lab I'd sequence them all in 24hrs and in 36 hours they'd have the transmission chains of all cases since then mapped, linked, characterised and a report sent back for Henrietta and the contact tracing team to match up with their tracing data.

But they don't like that sort of pie !!!

Do Ministers not have the power to overturn decisions, even if it is made by professionals? For example, Planning Inspectors decisions have been overturned by the Minister or indeed their depity.

Considering at several points in the briefing they said they would consult clinicians on deciding whether to extend the lockdown.

Its just advice. They don't have to take it.

I hope not, i really do.

Have you tweeted that offer?    Can you feed your results into the UK's data collection (for what that would be worth, other than destroying a reason not to take up your offer)?

Had to use a laughing face, because the situation is just utterly ridiculous, it really is laughable.

Truth is Dr Ewart and Mr Ashford don’t care, it would probably cause them too much paperwork.

This thread is just one big government hate fest!

Like we’ve had it so bad compared with other jurisdictions over the last COVID-19 year. ( Nothing to do with the way the Government has acted and handled the situation of course. Just luck I guess)

As I have said before, small island with two points of entry, compliant population and a native specialist in genomes.  Hard to get it wrong.

Oh, hang on....

Why not just kick your ball back onto the pitch, without them having to come begging ?

I have to agree with this.

Send them an email and a letter to DAs home address and then it can really be complained about when they do nothing. Easier to ignore a tweet.
