The luck we had to land in the position we did. The geographics, a population in general prepared to do what was asked from them, a genetic specialist, even a machine was found under dust sheets. Yet somehow they still managed to fuck it up, unreal.

Personalities, not politics fucked it up.

So it is better to just read locations out on the radio a few days later.

etc

For most of the Covid era there would have been little public interest on the IOM in a contact tracing app. Rather like face masks it would have been something that maybe people elsewhere used and we heard about. And the reason for that was that our largely closed border made measures used elsewhere unnecessary.

And as soon as this lockdown works, and with tighter borders, we can get back to that until everyone is vaccinated.

My understanding is that some of those pushing for a contact tracing app here wanted it as an alternative to such tight measures.

ffs - that moronic old shite again

I am not in government and I don't work for government either. I'm not on a contract with them either. Or receiving anything from them. Jesus. Grow up.

Previously I've also been accused here of working for Tescos and Manx Telecom. I don't work for them either.

For clarity my agenda is twofold

1) To help avoid another lockdown if a cluster appears in the future.

2) To aid a progressive unlocking of travel as and when the situation elsewhere starts to permit. I can see it being helpful when- probably end of this year- we can start to facilitate visitors once more for hosted visits.

I think she has to be given the samples first? You know, by the government she’s reached out to....and who aren’t interested in getting back to her/employing her (even for free, undoubtedly) because of their stubborn pride and inability to see other people have greater skill and expertise.

Fair point in your first sentence. Can’t say I agree with the rest though

The samples have probably been destroyed by now, much like that letter in the shredder.

Jersey has similar geographics. Look at them.

Why is our population in general prepared to do what was asked of them? (I would suggest it is the way the government has handled things, being open and transparent)

I don’t think they have managed to “Fuck it up” I think they have done rather well considering. OK with hindsight a few decisions may have been different but that is true of every jurisdiction
