IOM Covid removing restrictions

I'm more concerned about people spreading economic FUD. Though the truth is that the British economy is large enough to withstand years of this provided the BOE keeps the money supply moving.

There is truth to that but what you refer to is the UK economy. The IOM is not part of the UK ( as many of you like to point out a lot ) and therefore does not have the economic levers to control its economy. So the IOM , unlike sovereign nations , does in fact have what is called the ‘household model’ economy. That is , it can only spend what it raises in tax , can’t use QE or interest rates etc. So the UK economy might well survive , but will it want to bail out here as well ?

Uk won’t bail us out but no need to short term, but pressure will be on to open borders in May once priority groups vaccinated and Howie & Ashie already indicated that will happen

Evidence would suggest that the virus takes a real slow down over the summer, I think May is their target as it gives a few months over summer that are relatively safe and compatible with our local elimination.

The state of play with the UK and its handling of the pandemic will be a major factor in any decisions about our borders.

The vaccine is not a blanket panacea and to jeopardise all the effort being put into our being a "Covid-free zone" by opening the doors to the virus pit next door would make no sense when we currently have such a leaky immigration/isolation policy. It would have to be massively improved with a properly monitored quarantine facility.

To repeat the latest UK figures, only 17% of those developing symptoms are bothering to present for testing. Less than 1/5th. Only 4 out of 10 of those positively diagnosed bother to complete their full isolation period. So Lord only knows what the real carrying and shedding numbers are and people clearly can't be relied on to voluntarily observe the requirements.

With those sort of standards of observance the virus would be straight in here like a dose of salts through young and old, regardless and our facilities wouldn't cope.

Is it the same idiot who went to Tesco last week in a Halloween mask?  Many of them are claiming discrimination under the equality legislation if they are denied access to shops for not wearing a face covering.  Let's hope this doesn't fall into the category of "belief" protected under that legislation.  .

Still doesn't mean 100 percent they aren't from the same household.  Probably aren't, but the fact that people are passing comment on what others do (outside, zero risk) winds me up

That's possible but irrelevant. The site rules are the site rules. The construction industry has promised to be covid safe, yes within hours of being allowed back the plonkers don't have the common sense to even look like they are even trying.

That's Courtenay Heading - Bladon jets, remember them. Bit of an oddball.

The one who went in the mask is a friend of his.

He was even promoting Biomed for the cabinet office at one point :blink:http://www.manxbiomed.im/Speaker/Courtenay-Heading.aspx

"Bit of an oddball" lets him down gently. The man is delusional and dangerous to weak-minded people.
