Not sure that backs up your mates point at all to be honest.  In fact quite the opposite

Who's my mate? I was correcting your error, the figure I quoted was from the mouth of Ashford in the IoMtv video recorded this morning.

You basically called me stupid for suggesting otherwise, and yet have no way of backing up what you are saying.

Indeed.

Yeah I know.  I know one of them.

They weren't in hospital because they had covid.  They were in hospital recuperating from a procedure in the UK where they picked up COVID but without the test they would have never known.

So again.  Are you aware of anyone in Nobles as a result of catching COVID since 1st January?

That's a very different thing to people who have tested positive who happen to be in hospital as a result of a trip to the UK because they were already ill with something else.

There was an article I was reading a couple of weeks ago that was about hospital patients in scotland. Just over 25% had contracted covid whilst in hospital. So they were in for say a broken leg caught covid (no details of severity) and are then counted in the stats despite being in hospital anyway. If you try and question anything you're wrote off as some mad conspiracy nutter

Is that portrayed through the mainstream media?

Is that presented in simplistic terms by the Government in order that the U.K. public can understand & form opinion?

You know the answer.

You still don’t seem to grasp my point - I’m pissing in the wind here.

I’ll just have to accept that there are many (here) who see nothing strange in any of this.

And how many of that 10% with no pre existing conditions were BAME?

I am betting it will be at least half?

Ageing population I’m afraid , plus a hospital that is at best a glorified A&E means more patient transfers.

I agree about the ageing population, but an island this size can not ever have the facilities to cater for all conditions. Our tax would be about 45 % if we’re going to cater for every medical procedure here. Far cheaper to ship us away for specialist treatment.

Have not seen that, but 200 per week sounds like a lot. 40 per day. Must have  risen drastically  this last few years.

What quilp said was a bit ambiguous, but the 200 per week quoted by Ashford was the figure for all arrivals - as opposed to 700 in December.  He mentioned patient transfers as being part of that, but I think it's only about 40 a week at the moment, if that.

i'm sure all the hardworking nurses, doctors and other staff appreciate you shitting all over their hardwork by calling their workplace a glorified A&E.

Thankyou Roger, I'm not averse to a little ambiguity from time to time...

Well they have not been that busy what with our obliteration policy which has worked. And it is a glorified A&E Chief. Always will be , that is a fact of being a small Island with a small population.

absolute fucking bollox mate you haven't got a fucking clue how busy they've been, you do know people still get sick, fall, have babies, need treatment, none of that has stopped because of corona.

Also if you want i can list all the services they offer that a 'Glorified A&E' doesn't do all of which have continued to run despite corona.

Yeah right, a glorified A&E

Thanks to our ‘obliteration policy’ we’re currently one of the few places in the British Isles still doing any regular elective work.

Therein lies the problem. Those who believe the nonsense shoved down our throats. All that is what the NHS is for. I don’t have a clue how busy they have been and neither do you. Anyway , they should be busy or do you want to pay them for sitting on their thumbs.
