When Dr Ewart met with the steammie, did she just ask were the guidelines being followed, or did she probe further and ask for the internal procedures, including how  compliance was monitored and corrective action taken to address failures?

They said yes and charged her £9.50 for a brew - where you can

Not as bad as you!! Good job you don’t work in finance, still not answered how it’s all been funded?

Ultimately by the Bank of England creating liquidity. And some of that additional liquidity inevitably ending up here as a result of us being part of the Sterling zone. And as a result of our economy being part of the wider economy.

What's your take on it?

I'm getting rather annoyed with them constantly repeating the "specific point in time" line. If you never test then you never have any point in time references. For want of a better expression, they become lost in their own bullshit.

Yes, that one is irritating. It's glib and trite. It's as if he has just grasped the concept why testing isn't 100% effective and he's sticking with it come what may.

I think that's a theme really.

They'll latch onto something that tenuously defends their position and do it to death. Anything else is simply incorrect.

You CLEARLY do not work in finance.  That is apparent.

The government dont "fund" the Stream Packet.  It's a  business making over £15m a year net profit that the government bought.  It's an asset.  With a value.  That trades very well.  It won't be losing money at the moment either.  Freight is the main part of the business.  Plus they've been able to drop the loss making routes during covid.

As for new boats - those will be financed.  Off the back of the IOMSPC as a business.  The IOMSPC will raise the debt via bonds.  Which will be investments for an investor in them.

As for the Terminal, it's about control.  It can be built for free.  And rented for a fortune.  Or, it can be wholly owned and built for the government which will prove much cheaper in the long term. Plus give control.  Plus perhaps sublet to other users at times.

It's the same when questioned about the vaccination stations and when pointed out that UK uses cathedrals, church halls, etc David Ashford replies that the UK has a diifferent population to deal with. As if that explains it.

Then goes onto say that there is a lot of admin work to be carred out inthe background. Again - as if that explains why so much has been spent on vaxx stations.

Anyway, maybe Chester Street could be used to combine Finch Road Practice (due to upstairs where Promenade Practice was) and Snaefell Practice. That might go some way to justifying the refurb. costs. The Aiprort is another matter of course,

ETA:

Similarly with the vaccination thing. We all know that it does not halt transmission, but there can be little doubt that vaccination goes some way - whether it be 14% or 70% - to cutting transmission, as the carrier is not shedding so much virus. But David won't have it - he's been told that it is possibly only 14%,

But even that is surely something isn't it?

Just give the Steamie crew a vaccination now. They are right at the point of our biggest weakness in our defence.

Strange how you and Fuckwit come out with same shit & agree with each other, same person??

As for profits this year , Alf had already said its being subsidized and as previously stated £125m of our reserve was used to purchase and £40m is being used to fund terminals, that is not self funded

As I've said, you don't really understand.  It's pointless.

As for Pongo and I being the same person?  I largely disagree with a lot of what Pongo posts.  But I can respect what he or she says on some subjects.  Quite how you think we are the same person is confusing.
