It isn’t life there has been a massive global pandemic if you haven’t noticed that’s made 9,000,000 jobless in the UK alone.

Lower levels of jobless if we keep the borders closed here.

Current decisions to open up travel...IMO...mean we'll be locked down again by late Aug....

...and £millions lost to the local economy here...and lots of people here pissed-off.

How do you calculate lower levels of jobless with borders closed? The bulk of hospitality workers will struggle to get jobs  with no visitors.

I very much doubt that, Albert. Why on Earth do you think that? It isn't SO rife in the UK that the miniscule number of people visiting there from here are going to put the Island in lockdown again. Even when a few cases come in, with self-isolation for returnees, it will be manageable.

It's possible that there are other things that are preventing people from catching it in the first place, but the main reason looks to be that they haven't had it because they haven't been in contact with it.  I don't know what the percentage of people who tested positive in the Abbotswood cluster was, but it must have been fairly high from the number dead and hospitalised and that was with efforts being made to protect people.

There will also be people who are simply not genetically predisposed to having a bad time with it. Luck of the draw.

Thank you quilip. The report it similar to what I had read on another site. Yes, Guernsey has cases, and provided they are kept isolated, all will be well. If it gets into the community, all hell will break loose.

Some woman left a message read out at lunch time.  DEMANDING government change the isolation with a house back to the entire family.

It makes little sense to ask people to isolate unless the people they live with also isolate. Anyone going away except for medical reasons should pay to be tested. And for the ankle braclet.

Keeping the island virus free is the best way of protecting the economy too.
