Pay grades can be flexibly changed to suit the islands's NHS needs. The important issue is why the numbers are so low. The recruitment and retention policy has some good initiatives in it but clearly there is somenting wrong with management attitudes. I speak with many nursing and medical staff. They are aware of what the problems are. Too many non disclosure agreements. Why do we need them ? pongo
@AcousticallyChallenged The potential positives around tracing apps tend to be focused on what-ifs and if-onlys. The negatives tend to be around real world scenarios and the practicalities of getting people set up and actually using them usefully. We would still also need all of the regular tracing which happens anyhow. And they have been pushed here as a solution for allowing unnecessary business travel. That's not something which needs fixing. The best solution is to use technology as an alternative to unnecessary business travel (which is also rotten for the environment). Tracing apps are irrelevant to business travel. The island has a lot of businesses that rely on their development via business travel. I'm conscious you think all business travel is unnecessary but that comes from a base of not really understanding the importance of it. The Isle of Man has a lot of businesses here that travel. And need to travel. It may be an uncomfortable truth but a truth it is none the less. But really, the borders strategy is much more than just about business travel. That's simply a part of a bigger pie.

The reality is that the Isle of Man needs to go out and compete for business. It doesn't just fall through the door. Where we are likely to see a reduction in travel might be inter company. So, perhaps where companies on island with offices in Jersey or Guernsey etc. But the aspects of actual business development still very much require travel. That covers a lot of companies on island.

The individual was offered a test which returned a positive result." Rest of the update courtesy of FB.

TheTeapot
It would be preposterous if they try to spin that as not community transmission.

There's a clear line of transmission, it doesn't count as far as they're concerned. Part of the same cluster etc.

But the rate this is spreading it's only a matter of a few days till random cases start popping up. Especially with no masks or social distancing etc.
