Exactly he’s saying we’re not making pubs shut but we’d like them to !!! But if it’s not mandatory there’s no support payments

It’s an almost perfect solution really. All those who want lockdown and can afford to have a lockdown can have a lockdown, and the rest of us can just crack on just like we’ve been doing all week.

Last September when I travelled off-Island, I was in Zurich for a few days. They got on with life and introduced measures in restaurants and bars to ensure safe distances from groups.

This is where IOM Gov simply fail to realise the damages their decisions cause to parts of the Island economy.

It would be perfectly practical and reasonable for HQ to announce that these venues can remain open for now subject to additional measures and table separations. Instead he faffed.

Pubs and restaurants in the uk spent thousands to make themselves safer/compliant and the first thing the government done was shut those places so it makes you ask what was the point?

But in this instance, Dr Ewart said they were following their pathway for dealing with cases in the presser. It's absolute BS.

If they were, they wouldn't even be entertaining a lockdown (HQ said they hadn't ruled it out), they should be following the steps to reduce spread with minimal economic and public health impact.

That starts with social distancing and advised face coverings.

I don't get why they wouldn't have face coverings and social distancing as an immediate response. Howie wouldn't even recommend one and suggested it was down to personal choice.

It's far better to act proportionately to minimise risk, without getting us hunkered down, than to give wishy washy lockdown-esque advice.

....... and another thing, I wish HRH The Chief Minister and Ashie would stop their constant dick waving and comments about Guernseys handling of the pandemic. No crown dependencies have outshone themselves with glory, mistakes have been made, unfortunately we are unable to admit our mistakes, coz we’re perfection personified.
