Nor was elimination.  Completely impractical, unachievable and so hard to turn around expectations when it is proven to be unrealistic.

Elimination was (is?) achievable. With hindsight of course, but UK and the island of Ireland could have achieved it as IoM did (?) with a spin-off being Brexit would have looked like a good thing.

But it was/is not practical.

ETA:

apparently

Apart from the fascist bit, I was just wondering the same thing. The person pumping out this tosh fancies themselves as some sort of pseudo influencer like Gef.

If you do a Google search on "Before You Speak" you'll see that there's an industry in it's own right out there and people actually make a living out of such balderdash. It's all very American. I have nothing against our cousins across the pond but have IOM Constabulary actually paid for this??

I cant see how the UK would have a chance when even we cant manage. New Zealand are starting to struggle and Australia has struggled since the start. All despite being islands with very low population density and self sufficient for mast things. The only thing the UK has in common is that it is an island. 000's of trucks coming in everyday. Ferries/ships. Can you imagine the bureaucracy. Not really feasible.

Government were offering for travel related at £50 , not sure if they still are as may not have capacity

I think the £50 is subsidised as well. I don't think you can have a test unless you have a valid reason I.e you have symptoms.  Why would you anyway?

Please don't remind that we couldn't manage it, but yeah, the Isle of Man is now just another case in point along with Aus and NZ.

I shall continue to dream.

Does anybody know if there is anywhere on the island where you can get a 24 hr PCR COVID test done?

Danoo

The government have a dedicated COVID web page here https://covid19.gov.im/

There's an FAQ section here https://covid19.gov.im/general-information/circuit-break-faq-what-you-need-to-know/

This has a Private Test question here https://covid19.gov.im/general-information/on-island-private-covid-19-pcr-test/

Read and enjoy:D

Outside the limited circumstances in which you would qualify for a Gov test there's a private place here http://www.ims.co.im/
