IOM Covid removing restrictions

Serious question.

If we hadn't locked down and had tested so many people, with the current rates of vaccination what do people honestly think the situation would be now?

Would there be hundreds dead, or would there have been thousands of people infected who had now largely recovered and so had natural protection sufficient to really help limit further spread.

With hindsight, who would have done what they have done with lockdown and who would have just asked people to be cautious and cracked on - with the option to shield for those who wanted to.

Mass graves up Douglas Head and borders reopened in 2024.

29 cases. that's cause for cautious optimism I think.

More caution than optimism at this stage, but things look as if they aren't getting worse and the corner may be turned.   Though before March, 29 would be the second highest figure ever.

The number in hospital has gone down to 14 as well, which is encouraging.  One good thing is that only 4 of the new cases are 'unknown', which suggests most are in isolating households.  But we've had false dawns before, and the unknowns were much higher the previous two days, so caution is needed and certainly not a lessening of any controls based on one day's figures.  That's one of the reason we are here.  But it's what you would expect to see nearly two weeks into lockdown.
