I think that James Davies will be heading a Publics Question sessions. So not any control of Journo questions. Can you imagine what a 'live' question session would be like with all the Mannin Liners!!!

Yes, everyone can imagine that of course but that is not the issue. The issue is that the choice of James Davis was made by Howard Quayle and the Chief Secretary and he is directly benefiting from contracts for numerous Government departments.

It cannot be right for him to filter and put the public's questions to the IOMG representatives. Not. In. A. Million. Years.

Ever.

It would be hard to find such a thing even in Putin's Russia.

The fee to setup these vaccine hubs, how much was just going straight to the DOI or other government departments? DOI probably increased their costs and charged 50k just so they’ve got an extra 50k in their budget?

Yes of course they did.

These conspiracy theories are getting well out of hand.

Chester Street and the Airport vaccination hubs are both medical facilities with all sorts of (expensive) considerations to be taken into account  (incidental costs to be capitalized etc) and catered for. That doesn’t come cheap.

Some posters on here seem to think they could set up something perfectly adequate in their front lounge.

Pretty much. If the UK can ‘set up shop’ in churches, town halls, a garden, a DIY store, museums etc, a front lounge wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility. Although it’d mean we’d then have to try and spend that £373k someplace else I guess...

“NHS staff will start delivering life-saving Covid vaccinations at the Blackpool Winter Gardens, a former DIY store and the museum where BBC hit Peaky Blinders was filmed today.”

Those expensive medical facilities set up in church halls and tents in car parks in the UK cost the same then?

When all said and done they are temporary facilities built in existing buildings and sorry massively over the top in costs. Its a basic spec and no real frills , even the much maligned skirting boards really take no time to supply and fit. Sorry someone's been looked after on this contract for whatever reason.

They have far greater concentrations of population to deal with so each one of those UK hubs could deal with the whole IoM population. Resources need to be concentrated here where the main population centres are.

Temporary facilities... which have been built in a permanent manner... in order to ensure yet further costs will be necessary... to return the buildings to the usual usage (as an airport for instance).

Don’t tell me that a former DIY shop could deal with the whole of the IOM population?! Lol!! It’s probably the same size (or less!) than Chester St shoprite.
however...the point being made was the expenditure on converting the buildings into such centres.
