He keeps going on about people going in to work with symptoms as if he has no idea quite why this is happening.  Why don't one of these fucking journalists that we pay ask him why he thinks that may possibly be. It's starting to piss me off a bit now.

Nobody who has their payslip drop onto the mat every week/month regardless in these times has much of an idea.

Those figures were from ‘just’ last week according to the news reports I read.

The media figures were based on a Facebook post on the Police Media Page.  The relevant bit (though the whole statement is interesting) actually related to calls to the ESJCR ie Emergency Services Joint Control Room - basically the people who ring '999':

Last week alone we had 16 calls to the ESJCR which related to mental health issues. We had one person attempt to take their own life and 11 calls of people making threats of suicide. Lockdown is obviously having an impact on people and we would encourage anyone who is needing help to contact the relevant support agencies or speak to a family member or friend.

It's telling that this is the Police who are making the appeal and that as usual Mental Health Services seem to come up with nothing but platitudes when they bother to appear.  As we've seen before, there seem to be people who trust the Police to help with their mental health problems more speedily and sympathetically than those who are paid to do so.

Pathetic response, so we’re back to slowing down  roll out when we should be increasing it like everyone else is doing, we’ve already increased time gap upto 12 weeks so they can do more first doses and we do 1 yesterday

Looking at the dashboard now, they need to do 27610, to get all Phase One done, so if we take 15th April, as Ashford's mid-April target, they need to do 1200 a day, every day, from here on.

Probably, 'all' is an unrealistic target, but 90% would still require 977 a day.

Well he does have no idea why it is happening.

As anyone would have no idea.  Largely because it is so fucking stupid.

Do you have any idea why someone with covid symptoms would go to work?

It can only be for one of 3 reasons - they are incredibly stupid/willfully disobeying instructions, they've been told to come to work by their employer OR they don't get paid if they don't show up.

There's no point asking the question.

Mentioned this on vaccine thread yesterday and was roundly criticized by usual suspects, Quilip, FuckWit & teapot for daring to suggest it was unacceptable, hopefully they’ll pick the pace up as the vaccine is sat in fridge

No.  You chatted shit and were pulled on it.

If you post childish sniping expect to get slapped down.

The whole 'defund the police' thing is about exactly that. It's not about weakening your police force to let criminals run amok as the lunatic right would tell you, it's about properly funding the services that would be better able to deal with things like this instead of buying silly toys and weapons.

Really?

How about:

1. There going into work is to escape from an unsafe home environment (say domestic abuse)

2. Mental Health reasons (the person is isolated an anxious and fellow human contact provides respite)

1.  Unlikely. Certainly in any volume.

2. That just falls into the Stupid/ Selfish category.  You don't go into work infecting people when you know you have covid because your isolated and anxious.  That's idiotic and selfish.
