It went absolutely mental at the end of February. Within a couple days things were pit of control. Genomics isn't stopping that and isn't altering the lockdown. What would make you think it would?

But we are where we are and managing our way out of it is going to be difficult. However, I think you need to stop reading the media hype and look at what is really going on in the world. The two don't match up. Sorry but it’s not media hype as Boris will be making announcement tomorrow on vaccinations passports etc , trial for big sporting events etc , details in media are because Whitehall are briefing media. Isle of Man needs to pull fingers out & find out from UK the position on vaccine passports etc so residents aren’t disadvantaged when UK opens up. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56625307

But the point has been made to you repeatedly that it is part of a set of interacting things that can be used in response to Covid, especially alongside track and trace, and New Zealand has done this very effectively. I've posted numerous links over the last six months or so to their very informative, speedy and detailed media releases that their government puts out and how often these mention the use of genomic testing. Incidentally the population density of Greater Auckland is 310 people per sq kilometre (the urban area is 2490). The Isle of Man is 149. New Zealand is the 28th most urbanised country in the world. The reason why some countries have the reputation for wide open spaces is that most of the population lives in towns. Iceland is number 11. New Zealand is the 126th most densely populated country with only 18 persons per km. England is the 21st with a population density of 281 per km. Boris Johnson
You could be testing the Steam Packet crew and all the other Key workers that were wandering around, That is where the luck came in to it.

We will be able to log on for any vaccine passport the UK uses. Using NHS app. 2. No need to develop a Manx one 3. The problem will be it’s recognition in destinations. Big problem at present. Boris says we can go. Most of Europe says we can’t arrive. 1

John Wright
I think what everyone has missed with NZ is that they don’t do test genomics lock down. They do test, snap short sharp lock down, genomics. The genomics tell them whether they can ease lockdown sooner. Both end December/January and late February/March lockdowns were delayed far too long.

Well, they’ll get to Cyprus and then get locked down. Or fly to Spain cos Boris said they can but then get put straight back on the plane because looking after your property isn’t a permitted reason to enter. 50 on one plane on Thursday in Malaga.

No no we will definitely have to have a Manx one, more expensive more grandiose complete with skirting boards and best of all it won't work properly! 1

European countries will allow UK residents in once vaccinated as several have already announced, Iceland, Greece, Cyprus, Malta,Portugal, Croatia and Spain will follow soon. Problem will be who’s on green list with speculation most of Europe won’t be at start except Iceland, Gibraltar, also UAE from outside Edited April 4, 2021 by Banker

Both end December/January and late February/March lockdowns were delayed far too long. You'll have to explain that one John. How does having genomic results enable you to end lock down sooner. Lockdown easing is when you have no cases for a incubation cycle. I understand that you might be able to make association between cases and therefore mark the cases no longer unexplained. I see that benefit. However surely the fact that they have been circulating in the community defeats that benefit as it means there is a strong chance that they will have passed it to someone else. You can never be sure they didn't until you get zero numbers again. In new Zealand they have only ever had to chase tiny infection trails. Even smaller than ours.
